Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for covering the front desk and reception area at Power Station at Berklee NYC on weekend and select evening shifts. This individual will be the first point of contact for all visitors, clients, staff, and students and will greet guests, manage check-in procedures and notify staff of arrivals. The front desk at Power Station is also a central control for a variety of tasks related to the commercial studios and general building operations, including receiving deliveries, communicating important updates to studio and staff, printing services for sessions and academic staff, management of receipts and client services, and ordering facilities-related and office supplies. As this role will primarily be covering weekends and select evening shifts, this individual’s work will extend that of the receptionist covering daytime business hours to create a continuity of operations and management of administrative tasks throughout the evenings and weekend.

This individual needs to have an astute attention to detail and an unflappable ability to multitask. An understanding of the music industry, audio/video equipment, and/or event production will be helpful. This individual also needs to be willing to work flexible hours to adapt and accommodate their schedule to the schedule of sessions and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining a professional environment at the front-desk and reception area at a busy commercial recording studio and educational facility
  • Opening or closing of the facility.
  • Inventory and stocking of office and related supplies
  • Managing client services when needed, including printing and food orders
  • Managing receipts as they relate to expenses for client sessions
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls.
  • Monitor and respond to general email inboxes.
  • Receive and distribute mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Provide general information and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure a consistently positive guest experience.
  • Coordinate visitor access and security procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ensure the reception and common areas remain clean, organized, and presentable.

Experience and Competencies:

  • A degree in media, recording, or related field or commensurate experience
  • Office administration, word processing, and digital communication skills
  • Weekend and weekday evening availability required; Expected weekly hours: 20-30 hours per week
  • Great communication skills, and the ability to interact with clients in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills while using good judgment and maintaining professionalism.
  • Entertainment or production studio background or experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, fairness, and equal opportunity.

Pay Range:
