Scrum Master – Data Platform / Data ServicesOverview
Our client is seeking a Scrum Master to support a highly active Data Services organization managing multiple parallel initiatives across data engineering, data platform, and enterprise programs. This role will bring structure, prioritization, and execution discipline to a team that experiences high demand and cross-functional dependencies, helping improve overall delivery coordination and workflow efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Act as embedded Scrum Master across Data Services, supporting Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Product teams
- Bring structure and consistency to team workflows, backlog management, and sprint execution
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
- Partner with technical teams to create well-defined Jira tickets, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Maintain and organize multiple Jira boards across initiatives; establish a centralized backlog where appropriate
- Help teams prioritize incoming work and assess capacity to determine what can realistically be delivered
- Track and manage blockers, dependencies, risks, and follow-ups across workstreams
- Coordinate across multiple initiatives including data pipeline development, data platform enhancements, and large enterprise programs
- Support alignment across projects such as data migrations, product traceability, and ERP-related data efforts
- Foster a consistent delivery rhythm and improve communication across technical teams and stakeholders
- Improves execution and organization across a high-demand Data Services function
- Provides visibility into team capacity, priorities, and delivery status
- Reduces coordination burden on technical leads and leadership
- Enhances cross-team collaboration and dependency management
- Establishes scalable Agile practices without introducing unnecessary overhead
- Supports readiness for large enterprise initiatives impacting data (e.g., ERP transformations, data platform modernization)
- Experience as a Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, or Agile Program support role
- Proven ability to support multiple technical teams operating in parallel
- Strong experience managing Jira boards, backlogs, and Agile workflows
- Ability to write clear, structured user stories and tickets in collaboration with engineering teams
- Strong skills in prioritization, dependency management, and execution tracking
- Experience working closely with data engineering or technical teams
- Background in data environments, including data warehousing or data engineering
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Databricks highly preferred)
- Experience supporting data migration or transformation initiatives
- Exposure to enterprise programs with downstream data impacts (e.g., ERP/SAP environments)
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with shifting priorities
- This role is focused on delivery execution and team coordination (not financial tracking or budgeting)
- Will work closely with data leadership, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Ideal candidate brings a balance of Agile discipline and flexibility to introduce structure without slowing teams down
