NewRiverElectricalisseekinganexperiencedandhighlymotivatedManager,SubstationEngineeringtoleadthedevelopmentofthecompany'ssubstationengineeringorganizationinsupportofEPCprojectswithintheenergydeliveryandelectricalconstructionindustry.

ThispositionwillplayacriticalleadershiproleinaphasedstrategytoestablishandgrowNewRiverElectrical'sinternalengineeringcapabilities.Initially,theManagerwillleadanOwner'sEngineermodel,providingtechnicaloversightandcoordinationofexternalengineeringpartnerswhileestablishingengineeringstandards,processes,qualityprograms,andorganizationalstructure.Asthedepartmentgrows,thisleaderwillrecruit,develop,andmentorengineers,designers,andtechnicalspecialiststoprogressivelyexpandinternalcapabilities.Ultimately,theManagerwillhelpbuildafullyfunctionalin-housesubstationengineeringorganizationcapableofdeliveringengineeringanddesignservicesacrosstheprojectlifecycle.

TheManager,SubstationEngineeringwillprovidetechnicalleadershipformedium,high,andextra-highvoltagesubstationprojectswhileensuringengineeringdeliverablesmeetsafety,quality,schedule,andbudgetobjectives.ThisrolewillworkcloselywithConstruction,ProjectManagement,Procurement,andExecutiveLeadershiptoalignengineeringactivitieswithbusinessobjectivesandprojectrequirements.ThisrolereportstotheDirectorofEngineeringServices.

Akeymeasureofsuccessforthispositionwillbetheabilitytobuildahigh-performingengineeringteam,createacultureoftechnicalexcellenceandcontinuouslearning,andestablishscalableengineeringcapabilitiesthatsupportthecompany'slong-termgrowthstrategy.

Duties/Responsibilities

LeadershipandTalentDevelopment

• LeadthephaseddevelopmentofNRE'sinternalsubstationengineeringorganization,transitioningfromanOwner'sEngineermodeltoanengineeringservicesteam.
• Identifycapabilitygapsandimplementstrategiestodevelopinternalexpertiseincriticalengineeringdisciplines,includingphysicalsubstationdesign,P&C,SCADA,andcommissioningsupport.
• Provideleadershiptoensureprojectdeliverablesmeetsafety,quality,scheduleandbudgetrequirements.
• Recruit,onboard,mentor,andretainengineers,designers,anddrafterstosupportthelong-termvisionofafullyintegratedengineeringorganization.
• Establishtechnicaltrainingprograms,engineeringdevelopmentpathways,andmentorshipopportunitiestoacceleratecapabilitygrowthandknowledgetransfer.
• Buildacultureofaccountability,continuousimprovement,technicalexcellence,andprofessionaldevelopment.

EngineeringandProjectExecution

• Initiallyserveastheprimaryengineeringrepresentativeresponsibleformanaging,coordinating,andreviewingtheworkofexternalengineeringconsultantsanddesignpartners.
• Establishengineeringstandards,designcriteria,qualityrequirements,andreviewprocessesthatwillsupporttheeventualtransitiontoincreasedself-performengineeringexecution.
• Developandexecuteplansfortransferringengineeringknowledge,standards,templates,andbestpracticesfromexternalresourcestointernalstaff.
• Evaluateopportunitiestobringengineeringfunctionsin-housebasedonorganizationalmaturity,workload,technicalcapability,andbusinessobjectives.

BusinessSupport

• CollaboratewithEngineeringServicesleadershiptodefineandexecutetheroadmapforbuildingafullyfunctionalsubstationengineeringpractice.
• Developstaffingplans,capabilityassessments,andorganizationalgrowthstrategiestosupportthetransitionfromoutsourcedengineeringmanagementtoself-performengineeringservices.
• Establishperformancemetricsthatmeasureprogresstowardinternalcapabilitydevelopment,qualityimprovement,resourceutilization,andengineeringexecutionmaturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor'sdegreeinElectricalEngineeringorarelatedtechnicaldiscipline;professionalengineeringlicensepreferred.
• Minimum10yearsofrelatedworkexperienceinengineeringdesignand/ortechnicalleadershipwithintheenergydelivery/electricutilityindustryorrelatedindustry.
• ProventrackrecordofmanagingP&Landdeliveringresultsinacomplex,multi-disciplinaryenvironment.Abilitytocollaborateacrosstheorganizationandfunctioneffectivelyinamatrixstructure.
• Experienceinelectricutilitysubstationand/oroverheadT&Ddesign(12kVthrough765kV)andIEEE/ANSIstandardspreferred.
• Strongknowledgeofqualitystandards,regulatorycompliance,andengineeringdesignprinciples.
• Exceptionalleadership,communication,andstakeholdermanagementskills.
• Abilitytodevelopandimplementstrategicinitiativeswhilemanagingday-to-dayoperationalprioritiesinafast-pacedenvironment.
• ExhibitthehighestlevelofbusinessethicsandconsistentlyadheretoandpromoteNRE'svaluesandbeliefs.
