SUMMARY
Open until filled-
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Coordinator assist in the daily direction and scheduling of housekeeping services, and in providing housekeeping/custodial services for all buildings on the Dallas, Kimbrell, and Lincoln Campus locations. Perform a variety of housekeeping duties to provide clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly, and satisfying surroundings for students, faculty, staff, and the public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As needed, assume duties and responsibilities of the Housekeeping Coordinator in their absence to ensure continual operation of housekeeping services.
- Assist in the daily direction and scheduling of activities of other housekeeping staff as directed by the Housekeeping Coordinator.
- Assist the Housekeeping Coordinator with scheduled quality-assurance audits of all Gaston College buildings.
- Provide training for all new Housekeepers, or updates on requirements in specific areas as requested by the Housekeeper Coordinator.
- Assist the Housekeeping Coordinator to ensure all cleaning supplies are inventoried, purchased, and available as needed, and maintain all records accordingly.
- Schedule and assist with moving and transferring furniture, supplies, and materials between campus locations.
- Assist the Housekeeping Coordinator with all floor cleaning activities, and provide maintenance support of all floor cleaning equipment.
- May assist with housekeeping related duties for special events.
- Assist the Housekeeping Coordinator to perform the set-up/tear-down of tables, chairs, equipment, and related items for on-campus and off-campus events and functions, including the Myers Center Multi-Purpose Room. Function as liaison for the venue to ensure proper set-up and scheduling for all events.
- As requested, move furniture and equipment on all campuses.
General
- Follow safety precautions at all times.
- Clean all assigned areas to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
- May perform tasks that involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Will handle and use a variety of cleaning solutions and solvents.
- Keep restrooms, storage areas, carts, and other assigned areas well stocked, clean, and tidy at all times.
- Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, and buffers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
At least once a day:
- Always maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness of all assigned areas.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
- Recycle cardboard as needed.
- Clean the building entry door glass and windows to remove finger prints, smudges, spider webs, etc.
- Maintain the building entry areas inside and out and remove trash, debris, spider webs, etc. as needed.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and showers (if applicable) including but not limited to floors, sinks, mirrors, toilets, fixtures, countertops, doors, and door handles.
- Replenishes toiletries and towels.
- Clean walk-off mats, windows, and glass doors.
- Vacuum carpets and rugs and spot clean floors by sweeping and/or mopping as needed.
- Mop corridors and hallway floors, lobbies, and other areas.
- Maintain a clean and orderly cleaning supply storage area including inventory.
- Operate various cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, and buffers as per training.
- Information written on dry erase boards and/or chalkboards may need to remain for classroom and other educational purposes and is not to be erased or cleaned unless specifically requested. Other aspects such as tray holders are to be cleaned.

- Mop stairs and vacuum carpets.
- Clean glass in all interior doors, walls, partitions, and dividers as needed to remove fingerprints, smudges, etc.
At least once a year:
- Clean rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture as assigned.
- Shampoo carpets as assigned.
- Clean all accessible windows inside and out.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience operating various cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, burnishers, and shampooers required.
- Good work record required.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Fingerprinting may be required upon hire.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) certification may be required. In addition to the standard background check, this position may require having a clear fingerprint-based criminal records search through the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Continuous walking and occasional climbing of stairs required.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required safety toe shoes or boots.
- Bending, stooping, and reaching required.
- May involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, odors, and bloodborne pathogens
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
