This role serves as the primary relationship owner for a defined portfolio of institutional clients and prospects, with accountability for client satisfaction, retention, and asset growth. The position is responsible for deepening existing client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand services and assets under management, and supporting new business development efforts aligned with Wespath's OCIO offering.

The role partners closely with Investment Management, Client Service, Analytics, Compliance, and Marketing to deliver a highquality, fiduciaryfocused client experience throughout the full client lifecycle-from prospect engagement and onboarding through longterm relationship management and renewal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and grow a defined book of institutional clients and prospects, serving as the primary relationship manager while actively prospecting, qualifying, and advancing new opportunities through the full OCIO sales cycle.
  • Proactively build and manage a robust sales pipeline, originating new nonprofit prospects and guiding them from initial engagement through due diligence, finalist presentations, and closing.
  • Lead salesoriented client and prospect meetings, including investment committees and boards, effectively articulating Wespath's OCIO value proposition, competitive differentiation, and missionaligned investment approach.
  • Drive new asset growth and longterm retention by deepening relationships, identifying expansion opportunities, and positioning Wespath to win mandates in a competitive OCIO landscape.
  • Lead and coordinate RFPs, proposals, finalist presentations, and onboarding, partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver compelling, accurate, and differentiated responses that convert prospects into clients.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the OCIO industry, including key competitors, market trends, and buyer decision drivers, and consistently position Wespath's nonprofit, faithbased, valuesaligned model to win.
  • Partner crossfunctionally with investment, marketing, and operations teams to align sales strategy, messaging, reporting, and service delivery across the entire client lifecycle.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Wespath, leveraging conferences, nonprofit networks, faithbased and missiondriven events to generate leads, expand brand awareness, and support longterm growth initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop IIS analysts and specialists, reinforcing sales discipline, clientcentric thinking, and an understanding of how their work supports prospect conversion and client growth.

Investment and Business Development Relationship Manager- Compensation and Benefits:

Tuition reimbursement and other development opportunities

The compensation range for this position is $163,000-$195,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be based on the hired applicant's qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of relevant professional experience in institutional investing, client relationship management, business development, or a comparable senior clientfacing role.
  • Strong technology proficiency, including advanced use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AIenabled tools and large language models (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GPTbased tools, Claude) to enhance research, analysis, communication, and productivity.
  • Experience using CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce or similar systems) to manage prospects, track pipeline activity, document client interactions, and support disciplined sales and relationship management processes.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex investment concepts and persuasively present to senior leadership, boards, and investment committees.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding, consultative selling, and influence skills, including experience managing complex, multistakeholder client relationships and guiding prospects and clients through evaluation and decisionmaking processes.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with experience developing analytical materials, sales presentations, and clientfacing deliverables for institutional audiences.
  • Experience with institutional client reporting and portfolio management platforms, such as PARIS, Addepar, or similar performance measurement and reporting systems.
  • Relevant professional experience within an OCIO, investment consulting firm, asset manager, or related institutional investment organization, or experience in a comparable senior investment, finance, treasury, or clientfacing role within a nonprofit or missiondriven organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with custodians and institutional portfolio data, including holdings, transactions, and cashflow files, and handson expertise with institutional reporting and analytics platforms such as PARIS (Investment Metrics), Addepar, or comparable systems. This individual brings a strong understanding of institutional client management and sales processes, including prospect development, onboarding, ongoing relationship management, and retention, and is comfortable using CRM platforms such as Salesforce to manage pipelines, document client interactions, and support disciplined relationship management. Preferred candidates will have prior experience within an OCIO, investment consulting firm, or asset manager, or relevant experience in a comparable investment, finance, or clientfacing role within a nonprofit or missiondriven organization. Strong presentation, persuasion, and relationshipbuilding skills are essential, along with the ability to leverage modern technology-including AIenabled tools-to enhance research, client communication, and productivity.
