NGV is hiring a Business Development Director, Large Load Solutions. This hybrid role can sit in either our, Boston MA, Brooklyn NY or Washington DC location.
Job Purpose
The Business Development Director of Large Load Solutions reports into the Chief Commercial Officer - Large Load Solutions. This role will lead the origination, structuring, and execution of integrated commercial energy solutions for large-load customers including hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, and industrial users. The role is responsible for the full lifecycle of commercial power service offerings, including PPAs, ESAs, and alignment with project development and investment execution. This hybrid position can sit in either our Boston, MA, Waltham, MA, or Brooklyn, NY office.
Key Accountabilities
- Originate and develop commercial relationships with large-load customers including data centers and industrial users
- Structure and negotiate PPAs, ESAs, and hybrid commercial arrangements
- Lead pricing strategy, financial structuring, and contract execution
- Develop project-level financial models, including IRR, NPV, DSCR and risk-adjusted returns in collaboration with Finance
- Proficiency in project finance, tax equity, back-leverage structures and key power market metrics (LCOE/LCOS) to drive value optimization.
- Ensure commercial agreements support project bankability and capital deployment
- Partner with Asset Development teams to align site selection, interconnection, and delivery timelines, as well as liaise with internal stakeholder groups including Corporate Affairs, Commercial Strategy, and Market Analytics to prioritize markets, pipelines and advance deals
- Manage commercial risks including pricing exposure, credit risk, and regulatory uncertainty
- Provide executive-level deal recommendations and investment committee materials to support corporate governance
- Represent NGV in stakeholder forums with ISOs/RTOs, state regulators, host communities, and tribal nations, where necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business, humanities or technical fields (MBA or advanced technical degree preferable)
- 10+ years of experience in energy infrastructure commercial project development
- Proven experience structuring and negotiating complex power infrastructure transactions (e.g. PPAs, ESAs etc.)
- Strong knowledge of US power markets and asset participation/integration into wholesale markets; trading experience desirable
- Experience working for AI, data canter, large industrial load, semi-conductor manufacturing or similar large energy consumption loads is desirable
- Strong strategic, financial, commercial, and negotiation skills
- Experience working in Joint Ventures is desirable
- Strong knowledge of federal and state large load emerging policies
- Track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously
- Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present complex commercial and regulatory matters to senior executives and boards
- Experience managing and developing high-performing commercial teams
- Highly collaborative; comfortable operating across organizational boundaries and in matrixed environments
- Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable building new capabilities and charting new commercial paths in a fast-moving environment

Washington DC $211,000 - $248,000 a year
Downstate NY $227,000 - $266,000 a year
