Position Summary:  At The AZEK Company, we're not just building products; we're building a more sustainable future. Imagine a world where your unique talent as an Architect & Designer Inside Sales Specialist transforms the landscape of how we partner with architects and designers. Your ability to cultivate, engage, and close clients will put you at the forefront of our mission to redefine the way that we work with the architect and designer communities. At AZEK, you will use your ability to convert leads to life-long clients to have direct interactions with internal and external leaders. In return, you will be part of an organization that has been voted as one of the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces in 2021, 2022, and 2023. You’ll participate in team-building activities, receive catered lunch Tuesday – Thursday, and enjoy a free gym membership at our office. We offer competitive base pay, quarterly bonuses, 401k match, employee stock purchase program, and a discounted employee product purchase program.

This role is a hybrid role, with expected time in the vibrant Fulton Market (downtown Chicago) office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:

  1. Lead Management:
    1. Outcome: Independently manage a pipeline of leads using Salesforce.com and other industry information systems.
    2. Harvest sales leads using construction information systems (Insight or Dodge) and follow-up via phone call or email offering the correct level of support and generating product interest.
    3. Utilize Salesforce.com to track and manage leads, opportunities and client interactions.
    4. Partner with the outside sales team to hand-off qualified leads, resulting in closed project leads.
  2. Client Acquisition and Retention:
    1. Outcome: Identify and develop new client relationships within the architecture and design sectors.
    2. Follow-up on leads received through phone inquiries, referrals, research, etc. to promptly and efficiently maximize conversion rates.
    3. Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients through regular follow-ups, exceptional service, and by handling incoming requests with urgency.
    4. Effectively manage project pipeline from inception to specification including samples, providing product information, and project takeoffs with third parties.
  3. Product Knowledge and Presentation:
    1. Outcome: Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of AZEK’s product offerings and outdoor living industry trends, acting as the expert for internal and external partners.
    2. Independently and jointly conduct product presentations and webinars to educate clients on the AZEK portfolio’s unique features and benefits.
    3. Submit project spec substitution requests using applicable AZEK products.
    4. Stay informed about industry developments and continuously improve sales skills through training and professional development opportunities.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    1. Outcome: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain relationships, growing our sales and profitability.
    2. Work closely with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns and promotional materials for architects and designers.
    3. Partner with leadership to share insights, strategies, and internally created playbooks for improving sales performance among the architect and designer communities.

We believe the successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and designer community products (including adjacencies) and industry trends.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence key decision-makers.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and with a web-based CRM platform (preferably Salesforce.com).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Background in inside sales or customer service.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per quarter.

Potential Challenges in this role:

  • Flexibility in Schedule: This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet deadlines and attend industry events as an AZEK representative, including traveling to client offices/sites, industry events, and company meetings.
  • Managing through Ambiguity: This position is newly created, and the MBOs and how we accomplish them may change on a regular basis. This role will require the incumbent to be self-motivated and independently solve problems.
  • Meeting or Exceeding Sales Targets: The landscape for architects and designers is competitive and constantly evolving. The targets may be changed quarterly, and the way we measure success may be shifting as we get deeper into our partnership with architects and designers.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong Customer-Orientation
  • Exceptional Communication
  • Relationship Building
  • High Degree of Personal Accountability and Initiative
  • Time-Management
  • Attention to Detail
  • Results-Driven
