Overview
The Project Engineering (PE) team at IQT provides technical direction and engineering implementation guidance to startups that are part of IQT's strategic investment portfolio. These startups deliver critical, cutting-edge technology to government partners in the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. This person will focus on the design, development, testing, migration, installation, deployment, maintenance, and support of a range of hardware and software technologies. These can include cloud infrastructure, AI/ML applications, geospatial analytic tools, data analytics platforms, large-scale data systems, multilingual translation tools, additive manufacturing tools, autonomous platforms, supply chain solutions, cybersecurity solutions, cryptocurrency, computer vision, SaaS products, wireless communications, RF systems, microelectronics, materials science, space systems, and biotechnology. The technologies emanate from early-stage start-ups that IQT has identified, evaluated, and invested in on behalf of our government partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering oversight on 12-18 concurrent programs at varying stages of maturity
- Advise on the capture and translation of mission and government customer requirements/needs into system-level requirements
- Advise on all aspects of the software development lifecycle: user story generation, design, development, testing, pilot, and operational support
- Conduct architectural evaluations, research, analysis, and design reviews. Make recommendations consistent with industry standards and DevSecOps best practices
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and efficiencies (e.g., documentation, code quality, and change control)
- Perform testing of products, including verification and validation of contractual requirements
- Set up, configure, deploy, and operate AWS environments for testing of software products
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. Includes developing actionable plans to address critical risks and guiding external engineering teams on the development of patches/updates.
- Collaborate closely with government stakeholders, such as deployment engineers and end users, to ensure their successful install and use of novel products from startups. Includes navigating agency-specific policy requirements and advising government stakeholders on industry best practices.
- Deploy, troubleshoot, and provide operational support for startup software products in government environments, including on-premise and cloud solutions
- Advise startups on the development of design documents, user guides, and support documents for government users
Qualifications
- Due to contractual reasons, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Candidates with active top-secret clearance preferred.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional work experience with ideally 2+ years of experience working with cloud services - Amazon Web Services (AWS) preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud resource conventions, permissions model, storage mechanisms, and networking models.
- Ability to take and pass AWS certification exam (Solutions Architect, DevOps, or ML certification); paid for by IQ
- Comfort working in a *nix environments (RHEL preferred)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP, etc)
- Understanding of security stack infrastructure (WAFs, Firewall rules, network security groups, Virtual Networks, Subnets, routing tables)
- Understanding of containerization/orchestration solutions, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience supporting the US Government (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Work well both unassisted and as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing business environments
