Vulcan Industries is looking for an Estimator to join our dynamic team. The Estimator prepares or updates cost estimates for products manufactured by Vulcan Industries per requests of sales representatives or other managers utilizing rough/detail sketches, engineering drawings, photographs, renderings and physical samples. Determines materials and fabrication methods. Prepares estimate bills of material securing pricing from outside vendors and stock item cost. Prepares estimated labor details on how component parts are manufactured thru VI including assembly, packaging and shipping requirements. Enters bill of material and labor detail into computer system and prints actual estimate reports for engineering review, approval and sales markup.
Essential job functions
- Preparing estimated BOM and labor detail sheet
- Communicating with engineering/sales personnel and vendors
- Entering information into computer
- Reporting to work regularly and on time.
Preferred skills
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in an administrative or customer service role.
- At least 1 year of demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office to create reports, correspondence and build spreadsheets.
- Must have excellent mathematic skills and be able to compute markups and selling price.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers with poise, voice control and confidence.
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions
Inside, normal office environment, variable workdays and/or hours. Some overtime may be required.
Performance Standards Required
Preparing accurate estimates within established timeframes and workload requirements consistent with company work and safety regulations.
