Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Intern
An Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned routine electrical engineering-related duties, including projects and management. Full time Co-Op/Internship. 36-40 hours a week on site.
What will you do?
Day to day duties could include:
Electrical power system reliability improvement projects.
Participation in root cause failure analysis and execution of associated corrective actions.
Troubleshooting of electrical power systems related issues that may arise, such as power outages, electrical faults, and equipment failures.
Software based electrical power system modelling (including data collection, field verification, and model modifications).
Work on electrical power system relay network expansion.
Analysis of existing electrical preventative maintenance plans, and development and implementation of new plans.
Participation in inspection and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment including medium voltage switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, starters, variable frequency drives, and various digital protective devices and relays.
Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, engineers (of various disciplines), journeyman tradespersons both electricians and mechanics.
Participation in team meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment.
Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies.
What do you need for this role?
Second year or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Basic knowledge of electrical theory to include AC distribution and transformation, AC/DC. motor control, power/analog/digital electronics and electromagnetic properties is required.
Basic computer skills required, and some computer programming experience preferred.
Experience with electrical power system modelling software would be an asset.
2.75 GPA or higher
1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required
Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
Basic computer skills are required
Experience working in a team environment is a must
Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable
Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
