Job Description
The Fleet Mechanic 1 is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Company fleet equipment to include, class 1-8 diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, pallet jacks, and forklifts by performing the essential job duties
What your day will look like:
- Perform various preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on all types of fleet equipment
- Troubleshoots mechanical and electronic malfunctions, repair or replace defective parts as needed
- Research and order parts, accurately record usage, and asset in managing stock inventory
- Complete electronic work orders, ensure all information is recorded in computerized maintenance system
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all Good Manufacturing Process
- Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
- Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
- Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
- Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on light duty, heavy duty and material handling equipment
- Ability to operate hand tools and others such as bench grinders, torch, drill press, jacks and jack stands, Sawzall, etc. as required to perform work
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to ensure efficient use of time
- Ability to work in a positive and productive team environment
- Frequent bending, kneeling, overhead reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, exposure to weather, and frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50lbs
- Repeated exposure to chemicals, weather, and noise
- Frequent standing and vehicle operation
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and teamwork
