Yamaha has an excellent opportunity available for a Racing Assistant Department Manager to join our Motorsports team in Cypress, California. In this role, you will assume the responsibilities of the current Assistant Dept. Manager, which includes managing the SX/MX and Roadrace budget, assisting in sponsor, rider, and Yamaha support team contract negotiations, in addition to Contracted staff negotiations. Manage the Off-Road, Flat Track, and Road Race Contingency programs which involves creating OEM Contingency comparisons, processing promoter registration forms, and monitoring earnings, payouts, and race results. Also be the lead for communication with the Attack Performance/Progressive Yamaha Road Race Team and contracted satellite Support Teams.

What you'll be doing:

• Project, plan, layout and maintain Dept. budget for -03 and -04 (Supercross / Motocross and Road Race). Perform weekly checks and balances and revise if requested with Dept. Manager.
• Assist with agreement negotiations for Race Teams, Riders, Sponsors and Contracted Staff.
• Work with Legal to draft Term Sheets and Agreements for Race Teams, Riders, Sponsors and Contracted Staff. .
• Research, develop, budget and present Off-Road, Flat Track, and Road Race Contingency programs. .
• Create and maintain SX, MX, Flat Track and Road Race Loan Pool Reserve based on current and future Racing plan.
• Manage communication and Parts ordering between YMUS contracted Road Racing team and YEC, YME and YMC. Work with Parts Coordinator to maintain Support Team Parts credits.
• Work closely with insurance companies to secure rider bonus and salary insurance in order to protect Racing’s budget. Present options to management for approval / denial.
• Work with Administrative Assistant to track sponsor income, rider payments, bonuses, and expenses. Write race reports for 31 SX/MX and 10 MotoAmerica Events.
• Manage monthly YMC Engine orders for giveaways per agreement, and sales to supported Teams and riders.
• Manage the design, approval, and ordering of contracted Team graphics and Team clothing with approved vendors. Organize Wall of Champions plaque approval and ordering.

What you need to be successful:

• Strong racing background at the professional level (multiple racing disciplines preferred)
• Strong management skills including personnel budgetary, and organizational experience
• Strong technical background in all facets of professional racing preferred
• 10+ years Powersports Racing background preferred, but candidates with extensive industry experience will be considered.

Pay Range:

• 76,270 – 134,240

Yamaha intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related experience.  Base pay is part of Yamaha’s Total Reward program, our Talent Acquisition Team will share more details as candidates progress.
