How will you make a difference?
The Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity within the assigned Customer Fulfillment Unit (CFU). This position works with minimal supervision and must be able to work with people on all organizational levels inside and outside our facility.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or engineering and/or a minimum of three years’ experience in a related manufacturing environment required.
- Extensive computer experience working with MS Office; strong Excel skills are required (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas). Proficiency with MS Outlook as well as with an ERP software (Oracle preferred) is required.
What will your typical day look like?
- Work closely with the fulfillment and planning teams to forecast and avoid part shortages impacting production, escalating issues and communicating to the operations teams as necessary.
- Own all internal ordering and lineside management of direct material for one or several production lines simultaneously.
- Ensure work order and transactional accuracy as our customers and internal stakeholders change material requirements for modernization and new build locomotive programs.
- Provide timely disposition resolution for discrepant and non-conforming material.
- Inventory Accuracy for the production location.
- Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry/site-specific work rules.
- Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements.
- Be expected to take ownership of and lead projects for plantwide materials process improvement
- Be expected to take a leadership role in your department, flexing outside your traditional job responsibilities to assist and improve other shop operations functions.
- Be expected to occasionally report on and present materials metrics and project improvements to senior and executive leadership.
- Timely release of Job Packets and Shipping Paper work.

- Solid conceptual and analytical thinking and proven ability to solve complex tasks with a high level of ambiguity, under time pressure
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization and able to gain the respect of cross-functional organization
- Highly organized and able to deliver results through others
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing is strongly preferred.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$77,400.00-$110,300.00The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
