Job Summary

C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine is a seeking BE/BC Hospice and Palliative Medicine Pediatrician to join our Pediatric Palliative Care Program, which is part of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Position is full-time at an academic level commensurate with level of experience.

The Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC) Program was established in 2005 and serves over 500 children with serious and life-threatening illnesses per year in the inpatient and outpatient setting. There is a robust home-based palliative and care coordination program for children with medical complexity and we partner with local hospice organizations to extend care beyond the hospital walls and into the community. The program has become a leader in PPC research, quality improvement, and education, including development of interprofessional training models for communication, debriefing, end-of-life care, and resilience. Our PPC Program provides unique support for patients through our providers, social workers, Sophie's Place music therapy, Child Life program, Paws 4 Patients program, and spiritual care. Our faculty enjoy being members of this vibrant interprofessional team.

Our hospital is a tertiary care pediatric hospital with 348 private inpatient beds, which includes three ICUs, four general care units, and a large labor and delivery and MFM service.  Our Palliative Care Pediatricians are actively involved in education, quality improvement, research, and service to the hospital, participating in multiple leadership roles within the hospital and department.

Responsibilities include serving as attending physician on the Stepping Stones Pediatric Palliative Care inpatient service,  outpatient attending for the Pediatric Palliative Care clinic, attending for the home-based program for children with medical complexity, and attending for pediatric hospice coverage.  All clinical opportunities include supervision and teaching of medical fellows, residents, and interprofessional learners.   We provide 24/7 home call divided amongst all partners which include the inpatient, outpatient, hospice, and home-based palliative care program.

All applications are welcome, with preference being given to individuals who are seeking full- or near-full time positions, have completed Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship training, have interest in academic research and/or post-graduate education, and intend to make Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine their primary career.  Expertise working with diverse pediatric patient populations across settings and children with medical complexity is also desired.  Academic and leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Michigan Medicine offers a competitive compensation package that includes paid vacation, CME time and funding, full medical/vision/dental/disability benefits, retirement savings plan with match, and malpractice coverage.

Michigan Medicine seeks to recruit and retain a diverse workforce as a reflection of our commitment to serve the diverse people of Michigan and to maintain the excellence of the University.
