National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Supervisor with Gas Field Operations, you will provide support for the daily supervision of our operations personnel to ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of our gas distribution system. You will interact with both internal and external stakeholders such as construction personnel, external contractors, state and municipal agencies and customers.

This is an onsite role based in Waltham, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do

In this role you will:

  • Assist with the supervision of fellow employees through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
  • Provide support for ensuring supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies, and processes, helping to create a safe working environment.
  • Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices, and payroll activities.
  • Assist with monitoring performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.
  • Review engineering designs to assist your employees with their day-to-day responsibilities.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, MA $81,600 - $96,000 a year


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
