Summary: This is a full-time position that requires the Senior Consultant to lead projects and regularly collaborate with and provide support for clients, team members, and sales professionals to meet client and organizational needs. This team member will be responsible for a wide spectrum of duties including, but not limited to, helping to drive the vision of Alterity, developing and reviewing client deliverables, and mentoring junior staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic benefits analyses, including financial baselines, cost-drive identification, go-forward recommendations, and forecasted savings to optimize clients’ benefits spend
  • Act as subject matter expert on health and welfare benefits
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for company / portfolio company clients
  • Build/review financial models for proposed medical/Rx plan design and contribution changes
  • Establish actionable project plans with detailed timelines and effectively communicate with clients and team members
  • Support portfolio-wide leveraged group purchasing programs on behalf of clients, as applicable
  • Peer review deliverables
  • Assist with training of junior staff
  • Assist with sales process including participating in calls, meetings and drafting of materials
  • Review carrier projections and validate assumptions
  • Manage diligence projects, serving as final reviewer from both compliance and financial perspectives
  • Conduct RFPs for various lines of coverage including H&W, ancillary and voluntary benefits
  • Respond timely and accurately to client and carrier inquiries
  • Participate in client calls, with the ability to lead discussions
  • Review legislative requirements and changes with clients to ensure compliance, as appropriate
  • Manage junior team members, providing feedback during annual reviews and on an ongoing basis
  • Additional duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Project management of multiple projects (and teams) at once, with the ability to appropriately prioritize responsibilities and deliverables
  • Thrive in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
  • Mentor and train junior staff
  • Peer review work thoroughly and timely
  • Deep understanding of medical/Rx underwriting concepts
  • Strong technical and financial acumen with ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Strong writing skills with ability to correspond in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Welfare concepts and compliance
  • Support/drive health & welfare strategy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with private equity a plus
  • Proactive approach to client work

Education and/or Experience:

  • Four-year College or University Degree
  • 6-10 years of related experience with an insurance carrier, consultant/broker, or financial institution

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:                                                                

  • Life, Accident and Health License required; must be obtained within 90 days of employment
