The Public Finance Business Development Senior Associate will be responsible for assisting with relationships with municipal bond issuers & intermediaries (financial advisors & investment bankers) in the U.S. Southwest & West regions. The individual in this role will assist in the delivery of a strategic business development plan to grow business for all sectors within the regions. The Senior Associate will report directly to a Senior Vice President - Business Development.

Scope:

  • Secondary point of contact responsible for execution of regional business development plan(s).
  • Assist with customer outreach program to support & improve the company's market position.
  • Participate in meetings with issuers & intermediaries to update them on Moody's Ratings processes & products (including sustainability, cybersecurity & digital finance) in order to secure new rating mandates.
  • Preparation of standard customer meeting materials and meeting logistics support including accurate recording of meeting notes and follow up items.
  • Attend external & internal conferences, briefings and events to develop key relationships.
  • Assist with monitoring market & customer activities to identify & assess new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the internal database (Salesforce) in relation to customer details is maintained accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders (including Account Management & analytical team).
  • Assist with Public Finance-specific projects outside of the Southwest & West regions.
  • May be required to assist other lines of business (Corporate, Financial Institutions, Structured, Project Finance).
  • Expected to travel 40% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3+ years of professional experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of undergraduate degree (or equivalent) preferably in finance, accounting, business, economics or public administration.
  • Some level of knowledge on financial instruments, key characteristics & dynamics of capital & credit markets in her or his market territory, region and/or sector.
  • Previous experience in business development and/or sales & marketing is desired.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, inquisitive, positive energy, professionalism & willingness to learn.
  • Strong time management skills (ability to effectively meet tight deadlines for multiple projects).
  • Must be a team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail & organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$67,800.00 - [[$98,400.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
