Description
As a year-round intern in our Technology Department, you will gain first-hand experience working in our Application Development, Cybersecurity or Infrastructure/Platform teams. These teams enable our business operations by building secure systems and platforms that provide our employees and customers visibility and extend automation into one of America's largest transportation logistics networks.
In this role you will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use by leveraging technologies such as Java, Data Networking, Data Science and Cyber Security principles to solve problems and deliver value through real-world project assignments.
The estimated wage for this position is between $20 - $26 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Accountabilities
- Learn and perform the core processes and work tasks required to build and support secure and highly available enterprise software applications and platforms
- Participate in design sessions, sprint planning and code reviews
- Track and maintain status of projects using tools such as JIRA
- Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications - Required
- College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, MIS, or a related field
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
- Ability to work on-site at a Union Pacific office in Omaha, NE or Lincoln, NE
Qualifications - Preferred
- Experience in an object oriented programming language, such as Java, Python, or C++
Physical Requirements
- This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
- Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
Work Conditions
