The Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington
School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic Burn/Plastic Reconstructive surgeon at the rank of Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure) or Associate Professor WOT. Appointments as Assistant Professor WOT are normally structured per University guidelines as two consecutive 3-year terms followed by promotion to Associate Professor WOT. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12 month service period (July 1 June 30). Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This full-time, 12-month service period position will be located at Harborview Medical Center. Salary and rank will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Fall 2025 or 2026.

This position will be primarily based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Clinical responsibilities will include the broad spectrum of acute burn surgery, burn reconstructive surgery and plastic reconstructive surgery including extremity reconstruction. This position will work collaboratively with the HMC burn and plastic and reconstructive surgeons. In addition to clinical practice, the position will participate in the education of surgical residents and medical students. The position will be expected to develop an area of scholarly expertise, as expected of every faculty member, in consultation with the Division and Section Chiefs. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Harborview Medical Center is a nationally recognized Level 1 trauma burn center offering outstanding trauma, acute burn, and reconstructive care.

At the rank of Assistant Professor (WOT), the base salary range for this position will be: $29,167- $33,334 per month ($350,004 - $400,008 annually). At the rank of Associate Professor (WOT), the base salary range for this position will be: $35,834 - $39,584 per month ($430,008 - $475,008 annually). Base salaries at all ranks will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include variable incentive through UWP. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • MD or foreign equivalent Board-certified or eligible to achieve certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or foreign equivalent. Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington Successful completion of an accredited burn surgery fellowship or microsurgery fellowship, or foreign equivalent, by time of appointment. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
