At Lockheed Martin's Stratford, Connecticut, facility, our Systems Engineering team is at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies into military aircraft platforms. We are dedicated to pioneering systems integration activities that enhance the performance and capabilities of rotary wing aircraft. By collaborating across various engineering disciplines and working with equipment suppliers, we aim to push the boundaries of what's possible in aviation technology.

The Work

As a Software Systems Engineer on our team, you'll play a critical role in integrating and testing software-centric systems within an Agile Development environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines (hardware, software, and specialty engineering) and equipment suppliers.
Supporting requirements definition and developing software requirement specifications.
Supporting and developing software test definitions and descriptions.
Creating and refining design artifacts to ensure the successful integration of avionics subsystems onto rotary wing aircraft platforms.

Who You Are

You are an experienced Software Systems Engineer with a background in integrating and testing software-centric systems. You are well-versed in working within Agile Development environments and excel at collaborating with diverse engineering teams. Your expertise in developing software requirements and test descriptions, along with your experience in systems integration for military aircraft, makes you a valuable asset to our team.

A level 3 employee is typically mid-career and has 3 to 5+ years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related field. 5+ professional years of related experience.

Avionics Systems engineering experience, preferably working military programs.

Familiarity with software development in C or C++.

Experience decomposing requirements, developing systems engineering work products and testing complex systems including sensors and communication systems.
Desired Skills:
Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, and/or familiarity and experience with any of the following systems: EO/IR sensors, military communication radios, IFF Transponders, Inertial/GPS Navigation devices, Required Area Navigation (RNAV), or human-machine interface/human factors.

Familiarity or experience with agile development.
Ability to communicate on all levels both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers; demonstrated technical leadership.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
