Job Summary

Position: Supervisory Police Officer, GS-11

Division: Security Division

Unit: FBI Police Unit

Location: Washington, DC

Working Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm (flexible)

Salary: GS-11 $82,764.00 - $107,590.00

Full Performance level: GS-11

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Key Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance 
  • Must be able to pass a US Government physical exam

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties

  • Serves to protect government property and national security information from unauthorized access, acts of sabotage, espionage, damage and destruction
  • Serves as the first line supervisor for FBI Police Force operations within FBI facilitates
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates as well as provide advice, counsel and instruction
  • Reviews, accepts, amends, or rejects work of subordinates
  • Serves as the rating official on performance evaluation of subordinates
  • Ensures the compliance with appropriate Bureau policies as it pertains to other officers

Qualifications and Evaluations

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience that provides knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property
  • Experience that may have been gained in working on a police force; through service as a military police officer;  providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forest, or other natural resources or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties
  • Experience as a Leader in a Law Enforcement environment as related to Police Officer duties and/or functions.

  • Memorandum for Record: Work performed outside assigned duties (that would not normally be documented on an SF-50, i. e., back-up duties), has to be documented in detail by an immediate supervisor in order to receive full credit for amount of time worked in that position. If no documentation is furnished no credit will be given for time worked in that position. The following notations must be specified in the documentation (Memorandum for Record):

        a. Percent of time worked in the particular position (cannot conflict with main duties)
        b. The month/year work began
        c. Frequency worked (i.e., daily, monthly, etc.)
        d. Specific duties performed
