Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Strategic Planning & Global Product Portfolio Manager to join our Motorsports Team in Marietta, GA. The Planning & Global Portfolio Manager will identify long-term (10-15yrs) customer needs through rigorous analysis of the global ATV/SxS market (Focusing on North America). The end result will be a long-term lifecycle planning of our off-road product and technology platforms. You will work cross-functionally to ensure the seamless deployment of vehicle platforms and Technology that ensuring the integration with future customer needs, manufacturing processes, and business objectives.
What you'll be doing:
- Long-Term Customer Needs Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses of customer feedback, industry trends, and competitive positioning to identify long-term needs and preferences that drive product, technology strategy and innovation. Responsible for development of long-term company product strategy approved by executive management.
- Product and Technology Innovation: Establish long term development initiatives, ensuring alignment with future market demands and technological advancements while addressing manufacturing capabilities.
- Business Justification: Develop comprehensive business cases for new product and technology, detailing market opportunities, competitive advantages, and financial projections.
- Product and Technology Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of ATV/SxS products and technology, ensuring effective management from development and launch through maturity and phase-out. Implement strategies to extend product life and maximize profitability.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with Finance, Engineering, Marketing & Sales, Design, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on lifecycle strategies and objectives.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor key performance indicators, preparing reports and presenting findings to executive management to guide decision-making and support ongoing business justification.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Related Field or Equivalent work experience
- 10 years or more of strategic planning in product development or engineering
- 10+ years of experience in portfolio or project management, preferably in the off-road, automotive, or powersports industry.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving complex programs to successful completion.
- Strong Experience in conducting and analyzing research.
- Demonstrated ability to manage team performance and drive results through others
- Must have interest in the ATV/SxS culture with Motorsports / Automotive industry experience preferred
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in project management software a plus
- Up to 20% travel required (Domestic and International)
