Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Manager of Internal Audit & Strategy to join our Finance team in Cypress, CA. The Sr. Manager Internal Audit & Strategy is a global internal audit function, balancing strategic audit execution, risk management, and compliance oversight with a strong, independent third-line defense mindset. This position will help develop and execute the global audit strategy, oversee J-SOX compliance, and ensure the governance and control environment across Yamaha’s global entities is effective and aligned with business objectives. This role requires collaboration with business leaders to drive improvements while maintaining the independence and integrity required for internal audit.

What you’ll be doing:

  • J-SOX Compliance & Project Management:
    Lead the global J-SOX program, ensuring timely planning, testing, remediation, and reporting. Maintain audit independence while partnering with business units to strengthen controls. Objectively report deficiencies and drive effective remediation. Present compliance results to leadership, preserving clear separation from operations.
  • Audit Execution & Risk Management:
    Lead targeted audits and investigations across financial, operational, IT, and compliance areas. Deliver objective assessments and reports, reinforcing internal audit’s independent role. Partner with IT and cybersecurity teams to evaluate controls and emerging risks, while continuously enhancing audit methodologies. Constructively challenge management and ensure timely execution and follow-up on audit findings.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    Deliver clear, actionable audit reports and risk insights to senior leadership and the board. Communicate findings and recommendations with transparency and ensure timely follow-up on control gaps.
  • Business Partnership with Independence:
    Build strong business understanding while upholding audit independence. Act as a trusted, objective advisor to align risk mitigation with Yamaha’s risk appetite. Collaborate constructively with leadership and drive improved governance without compromising audit integrity.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, IT, or a related field required. Masters is a plus
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA).
  • 10+ years of experience in internal audit, SOX compliance, risk management, or financial controls.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing projects and teams.
  • Proficient skills with Excel, Word and other MS products.
  • Experience in SOX, COSO framework, and governance best practices.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, developing multi-year audit strategies, and overseeing global audits.
  • Knowledge of IT general controls (ITGCs) and cybersecurity risks.
  • Ability to travel internationally (10%)
  • Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong Knowledge of SOX requirements, COSO and global governance
  • Ability to effectively use audit tools, data analytics, and automation.
  • Strong business acumen with an independent, objective audit mindset.
  • High ethical standards with integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, balancing collaboration with audit independence.
  • Ability to challenge management constructively while remaining a trusted advisor.
  • Keen interest in cybersecurity, IT controls, and leveraging technology in audit.

Pay:

$129,250 to $$242,210

Yamaha intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related experience. Base pay is part of Yamaha’s Total Reward program, our Talent Acquisition Team will share more details as candidates progress.
