Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:  

This position will Support the development and implementation of Customer Solutions’ regulatory strategy for residential, commercial, and industrial solutions through regulated program development. This role is a key contributor to a team that will develop the objectives and processes and perform analyses to support the business’s strategy around a portfolio of regulated solutions, particularly renewables, resiliency and electric transportation. This role will work cross-functionally within Customer Solutions and our partner organizations including PARS, Pricing & Planning, M&SS & Power Delivery to gather input, customer intelligence and reporting data to inform regulated program design and development. Further, this role will be responsible for helping to identify and develop program implementation requirements and internal governance process to ensure programs can be implemented in accordance with regulatory expectations and to meet customers’ needs. This analyst role will support the Manager of Regulated Solutions to draft and review all collateral items for regulatory and legislative proceedings, including analyses, tariffs, testimony, data requests, and internal communications.

This position will also support Solutions Development’s continual review and optimization of its broader portfolio of both regulated and unregulated solutions to ensure that it aligns with the business’s strategic priorities and provides high customer value. This includes assistance with maintaining the catalogue of solutions, routinely performing analyses to quantify and qualify the solution’s success (KPIs), and understanding how it can evolve to support the Customer Solutions roadmap. As necessary, this analyst will also support the Commercial and Residential Solutions teams in their development of go-to-market strategies for unregulated offerings and identifying partnerships, technologies and/or business models that can complement or supplement regulated solutions.   

REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, strong analytical capabilities, business acumen, and regulatory knowledge to effectively lead the organization's commercial and regulatory strategies, ensuring business growth and regulatory compliance.

  • 4-year degree preferred
  • A strong understanding of the regulated programs environment, energy industry transition and the evolving needs of customers around sustainability, resiliency and electric transportation
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and efforts within a large-scale, complex, and matrixed organization in a regulated industry
  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision-making as well as financial analysis, business planning, and execution skills. 
  • Proven experience in solutions development, strategic planning, and regulatory strategy, with a strong understanding of residential and C&I customer needs and the capability to develop tailored solutions. 
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex competitive issues, including the value proposition of regulated solutions, bundling of programs with unregulated products and services, risk management across a portfolio of solutions, product/pricing decisions, and supporting the deployment of innovative technologies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, be adaptable, to use good judgment and to make sound decisions 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Regulated Solutions Development (65%)

Support the strategic planning of regulated residential and commercial solutions, by working cross-functionally with design SME’s to ensure program design is aligned to desired customer outcomes, and viewed as a comprehensive portfolio of ET, Renewable, DER and Demand Response solutions that can be successfully implemented. This includes:

  • Work closely with Marketing Strategy & Support (MS&S), Managed Accounts, and the Solutions Sales teams to identify industry / competitor trends and customer feedback that can be used to develop and refine behind the meter solutions (renewable, EE, resiliency and ET), front of the meter options and on-bill/subscription programs (segment-specific offerings, multi-solution bundles, use of on-ramps like advisory services and/or light-touch digital offerings, etc.)
  • Leverage a data-and-analysis-driven approach to support and standardize program development and evaluation processes, including establishing Key Performance Indicators and identifying reporting requirements for programs, such as financial targets, carbon-reductions, participation thresholds/requirements, rate impacts, and workforce impact etc. 
  • Support and/or lead all analyses, tariffs, testimony, data requests, witness preparation, internal/external communications etc. as part of regulated program filings and/or hearings, to support the broader IRP and Rate Case development teams.
  • Have a strong understanding of GPC’s regulated solutions and how they fit within the solutions landscape maps to help achieve successful customer outcomes 
  • Identify enablers and barriers that could accelerate or decelerate the implementation of solutions (market conditions, policy impacts, technology availability, resources, etc.)
  • Continually incorporate customer feedback to identify gaps and opportunities with GPC’s current regulated program offerings
  • Support the piloting and initial launch of a product or program, including identifying target customers, piloting the solution, obtaining and incorporating customer feedback, and training the Solutions Sales team
  • Help to identify, vet, and engage external partners to provide solutions outside of GPC’s internal capabilities. 

Collaboration with other Teams and Go-to-Market Strategy (30%)

  • Help to develop and maintain regulated and unregulated solution landscape maps, outlining the outcomes that various customer segments care about and the potential solutions that can help achieve those outcomes. Help to identify gaps in GPC’s offerings and to create a roadmap to address those gaps.
  • Support Solutions Development, Solutions Sales, and Programs organizations to identify and develop implementation and GTM strategies based on customer insights, industry trends, and market intelligence. 
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Sales and Program Management teams to share feedback and insights gained from customers and ensure that offerings are designed to meet customers’ needs, problems and goals
  • Monitor industry and customer trends via the innovation ecosystem (Energy Impact Partners, Engage, R&D, etc.) and to identify new innovations that GPC can leverage to create beneficial solutions for customers 
  • Collaborate with teams across the Southern system who are engaging in customer innovation efforts and with whom GPC can partner to provide valuable solutions to our customers (e.g., OpCo products and services teams, New Ventures, PowerSecure, National Accounts, etc.)
  • Responsible for gathering intel, analytics, and insights from the MS&S group, customer feedback, and other sources to support the development of the optimum customer targeting strategy and GTM approach. Collaborate with the MS&S team to design and launch campaigns to support the execution of this approach, including monitoring campaign KPIs and iterating as needed. 
  • As necessary, create sales tools for the Solutions Sales team to use in support of the GTM strategy, including tools like proposal templates, presentation templates, needs-problems-goals frameworks, etc. Work collaboratively with the MS&S group to design and update sales collateral for the Solutions Sales team to use. 
  • Help the MS&S group identify internal data sources from across the company that can be used to create a data-driven, personalized approach to customers. Take the resulting customer analytics that MS&S provides and combine them with other insights and digital touch points we have with customers (e.g., digital asset inventories, energy usage analytics, etc.) to create personalized insights and recommendations that can support the Solutions Sales team in solving customer problems
