Job Description:
Role: Technical Project Manager
Location: Hybrid (Mason, OH)
Pay: 60/hr - 80/hr
Type: 12 month contract
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering/related field
- 10 years of experience in infrastructure project management
- Proven track record of managing large-scale technology projects in a global environment
- Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines
- Microsoft Project
Job Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of assigned technical projects, which may include:
- Developing new or upgraded products and services.
- Enhancing internal information systems, applications, technology integration, and infrastructure.
- Delivering outsourced solutions to external clients.
- Improving customer satisfaction through technology, including customizations, system integration, and consulting projects.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of technical projects from initiation through delivery.
- Manage project initiation activities, including identifying contractual obligations, client needs, goals, and necessary contacts.
- Ensure internal technology project requirements align with operational standards, developing alternate requirements or documenting exceptions as needed.
- Develop, define, and execute project plans, scope, activities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Identify needed resources for projects, defining and assigning major project roles.
- Coordinate activities and tasks among project team members, internal departments, and external organizations to meet project goals and ensure timely, budget-compliant, and quality project completion.
- Assign and monitor work of project team, providing technical and analytical support and direction.
- Interface with external clients or field-based employees on technical matters as needed.
- Manage project risks, issues, and progress to ensure project goals are achieved, assisting with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
- Manage the integration of vendor/subcontractor tasks and review their deliverables if appropriate.
- Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure all project targets and requirements are met.
- Deliver informational and decision-seeking presentations to technical and business groups.
- Conduct project closure activities, formalizing and communicating project acceptance, handover documentation, and ongoing activities to accountable teams, and completing a post-implementation review to identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee employees assigned to manage specific projects, selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation.
- Identify project management coordination process gaps or areas for improvement, recommending and implementing solutions.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Some travel may be required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- Strong technical background required to manage technical projects and handle competing interests.
- Active pursuit of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent level of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of industry project management best practices (e.g., PMBOK).
- Knowledge of various IT project methodologies and life cycles (e.g., conversions, incremental, rapid delivery, waterfall).
- Knowledge of software industry standards (e.g., ISO, CMM, Six Sigma).
- Knowledge of financial services industry.
- Knowledge of company's products and services.
- Advanced skill in using project management software (e.g., MS Project, earned value database, audit tools, project repository).
- Demonstrated skill in managing project budgets and timelines.
- Skill in negotiation techniques to reach agreement when there are differing viewpoints.
- Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with executive-level clients.
- Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance, and build high morale among team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive assignments.
