National Grid is hiring a Senior Specialist - QA / Audit. This position is located in Hicksville, NY.

Job Purpose

* Responsible to assure the quality of all work performed in accordance with the National Grid Boiler Repair Quality System Manual.
* Support the Generation Asset Management System and Process Safety and Assurance programs.

Key Accountabilities

* Perform the duties of the quality inspector in the National Grid Generation R-Stamp program.

  • Material receipt inspections of all procured items used within the-Stamp repair program. Administer the program to correct discrepancies found during inspection or return a rejected item to the supplier.
  • Final review of all job packages initiated in support of welding activities related to fabrication, repair or alteration within the R-Stamp program.
  • Review of welders and weld inspectors qualifications in accordance with National Grid procedures.
  • Calibrate measurement and test equipment used for quality inspections within the R-Stamp program.
  • File completed/approved National Board R forms with the appropriate jurisdictional authorities.

* Coordinate with the appropriate authorities and National Grid organizations to obtain the National Board R-Stamp triennial recertification (for boiler and pressure vessel weld repairs and alterations).
* Maintain the National Grid Boiler Repair Quality System Manual and welding procedures.
* Provide technical support to field installation forces as required at any of the Power Station sites in the service territory.
* Interface with engineers, designers, plant staff, National Grid maintenance support departments, installation Contractors and the contracted Authorized Inspector.
* Support Asset Management System assessments. Analyse and implement findings and recommendations.
* Monitor Asset Management Plans implementation (Plans reviewed at specified cycles, inspections / assessments completed as scheduled, action items implementation, etc.). Provide status reports and advise Asset Plan owners / subject matter experts.
* Support the Generation Process Safety program. Track Process Hazards Assessment recommendations implementation and report to all stakeholders.
* Support Generation Process Assurance reviews

Qualifications

* 3 or more years of related power station experience.
* Knowledge of quality control and non-destructive testing
* Knowledge of power boiler equipment and piping systems.
* Knowledge of New York State Code Rules 4 and 14 for boilers and pressure vessels.
* Knowledge of National Board Inspection Code rules.
* Experience with ASME Codes and those specifications related to the inspection of pipes, tubes, valves, fittings and weld filler materials.
* Experience working with various engineering and maintenance disciplines.
* Associate degree preferred.
* Effective verbal, written, interpersonal and computer skills.
* A valid New York State driver's license.

Job Dimensions- Budget/Direct Reports

* Interacts with Plant Managers, Plant Engineers, Plant Technicians, Peers, Engineering groups, and other LOB.
* Requires frequent travel to Power Plant locations throughout Long Island, NY.

Salary

$115,000 - $135,000 a year
