Job Description
The Senior DevOps Cloud Infrastructure and Application Engineer supports the needs of a PaaS-private cloud financial services solution utilizing NodeJS, Docker-containerization and Kubernetes orchestration. Specific responsibilities include: Working with regionally disbursed team of Engineers and providing guidance to the team and giving feedback when appropriate. Delivering projects within the scope and timeline determined. Implementing and improving Kubernetes clusters as software services running in SSNC private cloud. Collaborating with product owners, subject matter experts, and peers to deliver quality solutions that meet business needs. Building infrastructure applications that supports automation and maintenance of highly available Kubernetes clusters. Integrating application monitoring and alerting for applications running in Kubernetes clusters. Enhancing Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) in software lifecycle. Building common components for reuse across the organization, maintaining documentation, demo applications and reviewing pull requests. Diagnosing, troubleshooting and debugging of enterprise, distributed, horizontally scalable, messaging-based cloud applications. Participating in interviewing and hiring for new positions. Exploring and prototyping new ways of meeting our business needs. Telecommuting permitted.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field or the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree through any combination of education, experience, or training. In addition, must have 5 years of experience in a software development role.
Must have: 3 years of experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration and management. 3 years of Kubernetes deployment and manifest management experience with Helm. Proven ability using different operating systems – RedHat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server (2012/2016/2019), Windows 10, Windows 7, IBM Z/OS (OS 390), IBM Z/Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux). 5 years of experience scripting with more than one tools/languages (e.g. any shell, Python, Groovy, ICETOOLS, CLIST, PowerShell, Terraform, or Ruby). Proven ability with one or more of the programming languages (e.g. Java, Groovy, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Golang, IBM-REXX, Cobol, JCL, or IBM-Assembler). 5 years of experience in developing code management and configuring multi-tier web applications environment. 5 years of experience with developing and managing tools to support Build & Deployment support model to maximize availability and minimize build times. Proven Monitoring and Alerting skills with Splunk, ELK, or related plug-ins. 3 years of experience working with ELK/Beats for log-shipping and Splunk, WebSphere MQ, RabbitMQ or related tools for messaging. 3 years of experience with DB2, MySQL, and Oracle. Knowledge of various tools, opensource technologies, and cloud services. 5 years of experience with Git/GitHub and similar version control tooling. Proven ability in an Agile, Sprint-based SDLC with Jira and Confluence.
