Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.


Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF)seek a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Accountant. This job reports to the Assistant Controller in the Finance Department of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer of PPFA. The Finance Department provides confidence to all stakeholders in the fiscal and fiduciary responsibility of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) and its related entities, and Planned Parenthood Global (PP Global) and its related entities (collectively the Organizations) with a commitment to customer service, sound controls, compliance monitoring, and timely, accurate, and complete reporting, analysis and decision support to further the Federation's mission.



Purpose:The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and collaborating with other teams to track and report program and grant spending in accordance with US GAAP. The Senior Accountant participates in setting their own objectives and priorities and follows through in accordance with established procedures. 


Delivery:

* Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations and journal entries as a part of the financial closing process.

* Prepare and review financial reports on grant and department budget spending.

* Develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and manage integrations of financial transactions into accounting systems from other finance systems.

* Prepare intercompany account reconciliations and transfers.

* Serve as subject matter expert on GAAP expense recognition.

* Conduct accounting research on topics as required or requested.

* Assist in preparation for the year-end audit, including preparation of supporting documentation, financial statements, and footnote disclosures.

* Perform other duties as assigned.


Engagement:

* Works closely with members of the Finance team and other PPFA departments to accurately record and report financial transactions.

* Collaborates with the Revenue Accounting team to identify donor-restricted revenue to track spending accordingly.

* Works with IT and systems teams to develop and enhance integrations of financial data from other systems into the accounting system.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

* 2-4 years of professional accounting and financial management experience. 

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

* Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a dynamic, fast-moving team, completing multiple tasks with poise, accuracy, and confidence.

* Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* High proficiency in Google products and Microsoft Office.

* Flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and ambiguous situations.

TRAVEL:0-5%
