Founded in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a tuition-free private home and school for 2,100 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. MHS is seeking a School Social Worker for it’s middle division (grades 5 through 8). This is an exceptional opportunity to provide case management and clinical services in a well-resourced and supportive environment. MHS's School Social Workers collaborate with fellow MHS staff and students’ families of origin or guardians to facilitate student success during their enrollment at MHS and beyond. This is a year round onsite position that compensates between $64,537 and $86,157 in addition to an excellent benefits package.
Core responsibilities include:
- Providing case management to meet students’ needs.
- Providing direct therapeutic support services (individualized and group).
- Providing case management and consultative support to service provider teams which includes creating individualized plans to address student needs.
- Serving as part of an interdisciplinary team of health, scholastic and residential care professionals to maintain continuity of care from admission to post-enrollment.
- Facilitating support and community linkage support via discharge planning.
- Providing consultation and professional development training.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for agencies such as CYS.
- Reviewing legal documents (custody directives, welfare directives, etc.), updating databases, and ensuring compliance.
- Assisting with special projects and school wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work required.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, collaborate, lead and train.
- Crisis intervention skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, databases, and electronic record-keeping.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
- Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models.
- Must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of the job.
