Summary
The SBA Banker develops new SBA loan volume within the Bank’s Footprint. This is hybrid position requiring support of internal referral source while simultaneously requiring continuous marketing efforts to establish external partners and leads. First Horizon is looking for SBA Experts with established networks that have a history of sourcing SBA transactions. This individual must also have shown the ability to successfully navigate the loan process from origination to closing, ensuring all SBA requirements are being met.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Review opportunities with FHN Relationship Managers to initially assess credit quality, determine program fit and eligibility.
- Accompany Relationship Mangers on physical or phone calls with SBA 7(a) loan prospects.
- Support Relationship Manager to clearly communicate program benefits, terms, pricing and process.
- Work with Relationship Mangers, CRA’s and SBA 7(a) loan prospects to obtain necessary loan documentation.
- Serve as a source of knowledge of SBA regulations, credit guidelines, and secondary market interest rate appetite to Relationship Managers and SBA 7(a) loan prospects.
- Maintain a presence in the market to aid in the direct origination of SBA opportunities.
- Establish and maintain an efficient and productive working environment within the department based on continuous and effective staff communication.
- Achieve established departmental goals within defined timelines, as well as define and implement a measurement of acceptable staff performance in order to safeguard the Bank’s loan portfolio.
- Responsible for adhering to and complying with all Bank policies and Federal and State banking laws and regulations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications Include
- Bachelor (4-year college) degree
- At least 10 years of SBA Lending experience
- Reliable Productive Referral Network
- Documented Production of $12,000,000+ per year
- NAGGL/SBA Industry educational classes a bonus
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to identify and escalate variances (as appropriate)
- Ability to offer appropriate resolutions to mitigate risk
- Ability to think independently and as team player
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Current extensive SBA SOP 50-10 knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of proper structure of SBA loan and SBA eligibility requirements
- Demonstrates an understanding of applicable bank policies and procedures as they pertain to the satisfaction of loan closing conditions as well as vendor documents and services
- Strong/effective verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter and works with minimal direction
- Good personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, Outlook
- Strong time management and organizational skills evidenced in previous assignments.
- Demonstrated above average problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence routinely.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of time.
