Research Engineer
Reporting to the Advanced Nuclear Program Manager, the Research Engineer will coordinate projects related to the development, demonstration, and deployment of advanced nuclear reactor technologies, including technologies which implement molten salt as a working fluid. The Research Engineer will support the execution of programmatic activities and drive projects to completion. This work will include interaction and/or collaboration with Reactor Designers, National Labs, Universities, DOE, NRC, and Industry. The Research Engineer must be able to create, manage, and execute work scope definition across multiple organizations.
In this role the Research Engineer may also be responsible for influencing policy makers and early engagement with regulators. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in siting and environmental compliance for new reactors, supporting license applications for new nuclear plants or regulatory activities at an operating plant, and safety case development. Familiarity with recent progress in risk-informed and performance-based nuclear regulatory frameworks, including the Licensing Modernization Project, is valuable. Additionally, background in regulation related to risk-informed applications, physical security, emergency preparedness, nuclear plant O&M, nuclear Quality Assurance, or nuclear construction will be beneficial. The candidate must possess outstanding communication skills and be able to take initiative in executing project responsibilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS degree in an engineering or science related discipline required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the execution of nuclear deployments / first-of-a-kind projects;
- Will consider MS/PhD candidates with an engineering or science related discipline plus >2 years of experience in the execution of research and development / first-of-a-kind projects
