SUMMARY
The Registered Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.) is an advanced-level radiographer who works under the supervision of a radiologist to promote high standards of patient care by assisting radiologists in the Imaging/Radiology environment, works in a collaborative team practice that recognizes the patient as the central focus, supports the physician in situations requiring physical assessment and complex communications with patients, and serves as a patient educator in areas of specialization.
Under radiologist supervision, the R.R.A. performs patient assessment, patient management, and selected clinical imaging procedures. Certification as an R.R.A. does not qualify the R.R.A. to perform interpretations, preliminary or final, of any radiological examination.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Certified and Registered in Radiography, successful completion of an RA educational program that meets ARRT recognition criteria. BS degree from an accredited educational institution, and 1 year full-time patient-care related clinical experience. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
EXPERIENCE
Skills and experience typically acquired through two years of experience within a busy Radiology / Imaging department. Possession and maintenance of national RA Registration.
SKILLS
Must be highly proficient in Venipuncture.
