The City of Chesapeake's Department of Public Utilities is seeking a motivated and skilled Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Mechanic I to join our dynamic team. As a member of our dedicated team, you will play a critical role in serving our community and ensuring the safe and effective operation of our sanitary sewer pump stations.
As a Pump Station Mechanic I, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring pump station Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and responding to any report of malfunction to restore operation.
- Performing maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of pump station equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical components.
- Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of the pump station.
- Monitoring condition and operational status of control panel, electrical and telemetry systems and reporting issues to appropriate personnel.
- Assisting in the installation and calibration of new equipment and systems as needed.
- Operation of specialized motor equipment to support Pump Station operations including pump and haul and wet well cleaning.
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed, parts used and system conditions.
- General housekeeping and ground maintenance of pump station facilities.
