JOB DESCRIPTION
At Apex, our proposal consultants are responsible for the following tasks:
- Demonstrate excellence in the each of the core proposal writer skillsets:
- Adheres to the Apex Style Guide
- Technically accurate, concise writing
- Accurate, appropriate data
- Compliance with all policies
- Accurate selection of appropriate materials
- Leads large scale RFP responses
- Determines what resources and personnel are needed to be part of the RFx response team
- Create a schedule and project plan for the RFx response
- Assigns portions of the response to the appropriate writers, technical experts, salespeople and other team members
- Reviews and edits the content contributed
- Leads kickoff calls and proposal draft reviews
- Works closely with sales leaders
- Evaluate RFx to determine if Apex should pursue
- Determine overall bid strategy most likely to win business
- Develop win themes responsive to client priorities
- Demonstrates complete understanding of the Apex proposal process and how to adapt it to various circumstances
- Makes knowledgeable suggestions to sales teams about the best choice of materials for different sales situations and supports development of proactive proposals beyond the traditional RFx process
- Work with industry teams to prospect opportunities and evaluate potential pursuit approaches
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of knowledge base that houses proposal content and information
- Identify gaps in current materials and assist with creation of new content to fill those gaps
- Knowledge of how to respond to commercial and/or government proposals
- Ability to effectively manage the proposal process and ensure all proposal elements are assembled on time and professionally
- An understanding of the importance of past performance and what information is relevant to the proposal
- Someone comfortable working closely and embedding with sales teams during the full pursuit process
- The ability to convey business value or complex technical solutions in concise language understood by a range of audiences
- Someone who makes positive contributions to our team culture

- Excellent organizational skills with solid documentation skills
- Able to manage a project with various contributors from start to finish including holding all team members accountable to deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree (or 5+ years of Proposal Management work experience)
- 3+ years of proposal response experience
- Knowledge of one or more commonly used proposal automation systems such as Responsive (preferred), Loopio, Qvidian
- APMP Certification (Foundation level or above) preferred
- Experience writing technical content is preferred
- Experience working with sales teams or in sales directly is preferred
