Full Job Description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Procurement Strategy Planner to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This role will support strategies necessary to develop and refine supplier and subsidiary quality, delivery, cost, and manufacturing processes, as well as customer service.  This ensures the conditions for successful procurement, scheduling, and delivery of high-quality finished goods.

What you'll be doing:

  • Research all current YMUS suppliers for NDAs and Contracts and determine gaps with current documentation
  • Negotiate with current YMUS supplier's new contracts and/or addendums
  • Manage changes to supplier documentation with the assistance of Yamaha Legal Department for YMUS and Subsidiaries.
  • Research, develop, and utilize a supplier portal system to manage supplier documentation at YMUS and Subsidiaries.
  • Support strategies necessary to develop and refine supplier and subsidiary quality, delivery, cost and manufacturing processes, as well as customer service.  This ensures the conditions for successful procurement, scheduling, and delivery of high-quality finished goods. 
  • Support achievement of targets by understanding goals and budgets, while working with Product Planning and Sales to bring in new products to sell through MRP&A distribution. 
  • Understand plans for cost reduction, ML (maker layout), IT systems, and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility i.e. Green Procurement) and track progress with US Marine Business Unit manufacturing subsidiaries.
  • Assist with documenting procurement procedures and risk planning activity (Legal, Contract, Evaluation).         
  • Assist with documenting standardized work requirements and communicate with subsidiaries in implementing similar processes to enhance their procurement functions.
  • Support YMUS supplier management activities to include KPI tracking and performance reports.
  • Track US MBU Companies with cost analysis, supplier selection, and price setting 
  • Understand US Marine Business Unit Companies management of supplier performance and track results.
  • Communicate with US Marine Business Unit Companies implementing cost reduction activities at suppliers.  Track progress/results.        

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business/Finance, preferred, High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of work experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics field required
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Standard (ISO9001, IATF16949)
  • Basic knowledge of freight, transportation, and expediting experience
  • Experience in Boat or Automotive industries preferred.
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite Skills
  • Intermediate interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a cross functional team environment
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Support partnering across multiple levels within the organization
  • Occasional domestic travel (less than 10%)
