What do we need:
The Sciences Department at Amway is seeking a post-doctoral in Data Science to contribute to a team that supports the discovery, development, and commercialization of new technologies included in our global portfolio of Health & Wellness products. Specifically, we are seeking out an individual who can lead a project to mine scientific literature by leveraging a learning-based framework to identify unbiased targets that contribute to the biology of aging and uncover potential approaches to modulate the targets to improve healthspan.
You will work with a cross-functional team to shorten the research and development process. While utilizing a wide variety of tools such as machine learning, image analysis, large data sets, cloud-based applications and working with colleagues to better organize and interpret large data sets. The goal is characterizing unknowns from the data and determining next steps of experimentation with colleagues, ultimately enabling the team to make quicker decisions during discovery.
You will partner with Amway colleagues across the innovation process, including Open Innovation, Biology and Chemistry Sciences, Product Formulation, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and others, to bring new innovations from concept to consumer. You will also develop strong client relationships and need to communicate effectively in oral and written form to present research findings, establish specifications and discuss project status with key stakeholders.
Required qualifications:
- PhD (0-1 years), or MS (1-3 years) experience in Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Data Science, Computer Science or related scientific fields
- Theoretical and applied principles of statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining, and other research methodologies
- Experience using statistical programming languages (R, Python, SLQ, or similar) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Coding knowledge and experience with several languages (C, C++, Java, Matlab, HTML or etc.)
- Experience in cloud infrastructure and cloud based machine learning/data tools.
- Approaches, tools and techniques that promote the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns and relationships to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods and interpretations in a variety of business situations
- Utilizing publicly available data sources for applying, annotating and querying data/information
