The Payroll Tax Analyst will be an important part of the payroll & accounting teams and will ensure that tax accounts are reconciled, and all taxes are remitted. The payroll tax analyst will work to ensure compliance with state and federal tax law.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reconcile payroll accounts and taxes to the general ledger - Research discrepancies
Assist the accounting department with reconciling all payroll related accounts
Post all payroll transactions for all companies to GL
Primarily responsible for all Employee Incentives - Ensure proper taxation, record keeping, and gross ups where applicable-monthly reconciliation/quarterlyreconciliation where applicable
Ad hoc Accounting requests/reports/audit requests
Audit HSA/401k/Flex/Garnishmentaccounts
Assist in end of year W2/T4 preparation
Assist in month-end and quarter-end payroll tax audits
Test payroll tax changes within SAP payroll.
Manage unemployment rates from each state to ensure proper setup in SAP payroll.
Ensure taxes related to employee relocation and stock transactions are set up properly.
Lead payroll tax function in SAP payroll system and coordinate with ADP tax team.
Remain current on legislation and regulatory rules impacting payroll tax.
Manage the setup and closure of all tax accounts with state and local jurisdictions.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Minimum two (2) years' experience working within payroll.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization to understand requestor's needs and to take raw information to develop reports and presentations.
Must be able to prioritize, problem-solve, take initiative, maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel information.
Proven ability to remain flexible in the face of change and changing priorities.
Excellent analytical and independent thinking skills.
Ability to review and understand statistical data retrieved from Workday Payroll.
Functional knowledge of using SAP/Success Factors preferred.
Functional knowledge of ADP Smart Compliance preferred.
Ability to take ownership of work and look for ways to improve processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four-year college degree, or equivalent, accounting preferred.
Experience in multi-state payroll processing.
Understanding of Federal and State payroll taxation, practices, and laws.
Experience with spreadsheet and word processing programs.
Ability to interface with all levels of personnel, management, and external auditors.
Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
