Job Summary
Assist technologists in performing radiology examinations, including positioning patients, starting IVs, lifting, moving, and pushing wheelchairs and stretchers. Additionally, the Patient Care Tech Associate (PCTA) will draw up, administer IV contrast, and dispense oral contrast for imaging exams as needed. The role will also provide clerical services in an outpatient setting while delivering excellent customer service to patients and providers.

Responsibilities*
Customer Service/Support/Communication:
- Exhibit consistent, positive, supportive attitudes, behaviors, and words.

Assist Technologist
- Help lift/move/position patients as necessary for examinations.
- Monitor patient to ensure patient safety.
- Retrieve supplies/equipment necessary for procedure.
- Remain focused on case until examination is completed.
- Ensure the correct patient is getting the correct procedure using the ?Time Out? procedure.
- Review the questionnaire with the patient to ensure patient safety for the procedure.
- Receive and carry out instructions accurately regarding patient care and operations.
- Communicate observations/concerns about a patient?s condition or safety to the technologist.
- Start IVs and administer x-ray contrast for patients? CT.
- Must understand radiation safety principles and complete the necessary Cornerstone modules on this topic.
- . Must have a basic understanding of anatomy to position the patient accordingly for different types of imaging studies.
MiChart Support
- Proficient with entering patient information into the Radiant system.
- Knows how to arrive, begin, and complete a study in Radiant.
- Knows how to enter allergies into MiChart and Radiant system.
- Knows how to document IV placement in MiChart.
- Knows how to look up patient labs in MiChart.
- Receive, relay, and document verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient?s medical record.
Equipment/Supply Maintenance
- Report equipment malfunctions to manager/supervisor/charge technologist.
- Clean rooms and equipment as necessary.
- Stock rooms with linen and necessary supplies.
- Check emergency equipment daily.
- Stock the IV room and all carts.
Patient Transportation
- Transport adult/pediatric patients when necessary, utilizing transfer boards, patient lift, and/or wheelchairs.
Clean transportation equipment before and after patient use
Clerical Support
- Answer phones and direct inquiries to the technologist.
- Utilize proper telephone skills in directing and transferring incoming calls.
- Perform Check-In and receive patients into the Radiology department, utilizing security cameras and after-hours procedures when needed.
- Accurately enter patient, study, and physician information into the Epic/Radiant system.
- Maintain and update manuals with process and workflow changes.
- Coordinate and schedule Radiology procedures.
- Perform chaperone duties as required.
- Adhere to high standards of teamwork by being adaptable and flexible.
- Consistently share information and resources with others.
- Ability to work independently in an ever-changing and potentially stressful environment.
- Demonstrate dependability, initiative, ability to prioritize, and ability to accept direction.

Assists with onboarding processes and all other related Radiology duties as needed.
Required Qualifications*
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- BCLS certified.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- 2 years of patient care experience.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Basic Anatomy knowledge.
Desired Qualifications*
- Radiation Safety knowledge.
- Venipuncture experience.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection control, and universal precautions.
- Medical terminology and experience preferred.
- Maintain proper attendance.
