This position will work in office until the training period is complete and then will be remote eligible for up to 20% of the time. The office location for this position is at Cooper/Haims located in Victor, NY. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Purpose of Position:
A Paraplanner will support advisors to manage existing client relationships. The paraplanner is expected to develop an understanding of all steps of the financial planning process and to assist with the delivery of firm services to our clients. A paraplanner is expected to help retain existing clients by providing a high level of service.
Principle Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Delivery of Advisory Services
• Support advisors in delivery of client service. • Develop understanding of planning matters for firm’s clients and aid in financial plan development • Prepare client meeting materials for advisors including data gathering, modeling, scenario analysis, and plan and presentation design. May join client meetings as needed. • Develop understanding of all steps of the financial planning process and assist with the delivery of firm services to clients. This includes identifying client needs/goals, preparing long-term cash flow analysis, developing planning strategies, and reviewing and making adjustments to the plan. • Support advisors in order to solve financial planning issues and integrate all aspects of client’s financial life, including retirement planning, investment advisory, tax planning & compliance, estate planning, employee benefits, insurance planning, and education planning. • Assist advisors with client follow-up requests • Actively pursue knowledge of firm investment philosophy and process and support advisors with implementation • Adhere to firm client service delivery model and maintain high level of client retention. • Maintain accurate records in client relationship management (CRM) tool and financial planning softwareTax Compliance and Tax Planning
• As part of the tax department, prepare individual income tax returns, gift tax returns, business tax returns and fiduciary tax returns. • Prepare income tax projections during year.Professional Development and Compliance
• Build and expand knowledge/skillset by developing an in-depth understanding of financial markets and financial planning concepts • Continuously pursue learning opportunities to enhance knowledge of financial planning strategies • Obtain professional licenses/designations and seek additional ones where relevant • Comply with all regulatory and firm guidelines, policies and procedures • Act with integrity and maintain confidentiality in every client relationshipQualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related
- MBA, MS in Finance/Accounting, or similar advanced degree
- 0-2 years of industry experience (including financial planning, investment advisory, estate planning and/or tax compliance/planning)
- CFP designation or other advanced license/designation (CPA, PFS, CFA, JD)
- Knowledge of financial planning software
