Full Job Description

LifeSource is hiring an Organ Services Manager to provide day-to-day leadership and to serve as a clinical subject matter expert related to donor suitability including clinical management, appropriate laboratory testing for successful donation outcomes, communication, and documentation in an effort to maximize donation opportunities.

This Manager will also engage in supporting effective donor management training, classroom and on-the-job, as well as supporting clarity and communication of travel logistics, transplantation and research needs.

As an Organ Services Manager, you’ll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job duties:

Provide day-to-day leadership and management of key work processes for clinical donor management processes to support the coordination (including with tissue and eye donation) and response of organ donation referrals.

  • Ensure team accountability for accuracy of documentation during donor management.
  • Provide service excellence to key customer groups including donor families, donor hospitals, transplant centers, tissue processors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure work processes and procedures are in compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency policies and standards, including Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS), American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), Federal Drug Administration (FDA), and Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) tissue processors.
  • Foster, promote and sustain cross-departmental collaboration in support of optimal department and organization outcomes.
  • Oversee and evaluate process and performance goals and measurements and initiate continuous development and improvement of policies and procedures to achieve organizational outcomes.

Lead, guide, and mentor team members toward successful execution of work processes, engaging cross departmentally as appropriate, to achieve mission and goals.

  • Lead and engage in regular individual and team meetings to review programs, activities, and accomplishments and provide timely and critical information needed for the team’s success.
  • Lead, model, and engage in activities and initiatives related to organizational culture, talent development, and partner engagement, including integration of equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
  • Direct work planning, scheduling, managing time sheets, time off requests, expense reports, etc., to ensure adequate capacity and adherence to policies.
  • Guide and mentor team members to encourage professional development and goal achievement.
  • Effectively manage team member performance through documented training, competency measurement, coaching, identifying areas of opportunity, recognition, job change, salary administration, and performance appraisal process.

Oversight of organ procurement services:

  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of organ donor management and other services. Actively participates in national organizations such as Organ Procurement Transplant Network (OPTN) and Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO).
  • Assist the Director in the development of an operational plan within annual departmental budget.
  • Participate in the strategic planning process and performance metrics development for the department under the direction of the Director. Monitor progress and completion of goals in collaboration with interdepartmental leaders.
  • Ensure timely response to standard operating procedure (SOP) modifications and compliance, corrective action / preventive action (CAPA), and ongoing competencies and quality improvement projects partnering with compliance and quality team members as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with schedule adjusted to accommodate organizational needs.
  • Participates in Maximizing The Yes (MTY) Leadership On-Call schedule to support real time key work processes achievement and organizational strategies. (24-hour call schedule rotation)
  • Affected team member in OSHA Exposure Category I are regularly exposed to bloodborne pathogens and handle materials that could spread infection (more than one opportunity per month). Additionally, their position may require interaction with staff in patient or donor areas in a hospital, medical examiner office, funeral home, or clinic setting.
  • Must be able to travel within the service area (MN, ND, SD) by ground or air.
  • Must be able to follow and successfully complete category immunization, health screening and background check requirements.

SCHEDULE:

  • Primarily during business hours: Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm.
  • This position requires rotation in leadership on-call (evening and weekend)
  • Hybrid on-site

Projected offer range: $109k-134k, based on relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to ten years of critical care nursing responsibilities.
  • Requires a minimum of three years of leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience.
  • Previous experience in organ, eye, or tissue donation or transplantation field strongly preferred.
  • Requires relevant certification in organ, eye, or tissue donation, or ability to obtain within 2 yrs of position. Once certified, you must obtain the required continuing education or recertification credits/process.
  • Must maintain a valid driver license and have reliable personal automobile to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to drive results to improve processes and outcomes with the use of critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster, promote and sustain cross-departmental collaboration or cross-team collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicationand interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-directed, and a motivated contributor with ability to function autonomously and effectively lead, to execute reasonable and sound decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, motivate, influence, and achieve cooperation with both internal and external relationships. Managing difficult situations with poise and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven skilled and competent in using technology-based tools such as personal computers and related software, mobile devices, and electronic medical record systems, as appropriate for position.
