The Medical Director is responsible for providing clinical oversight, direction, and leadership for all medical services, including those integrated within behavioral health settings, at Adapt Integrated Health Care. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with HRSA standards and other regulatory requirements. The Medical Director will oversee the development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and procedures, lead quality improvement initiatives, and participate in strategic planning and organizational development to advance the mission and goals of Adapt Integrated Health Care.

This is a full-time role that requires balancing administrative responsibilities and direct patient care. The exact allocation of time will be flexible to accommodate the evolving needs of Adapt Integrated Health Care but will ensure comprehensive oversight and leadership in both areas.

  • Provide Clinical Leadership: Lead and oversee all medical and behavioral health programs, ensuring that clinical practices align with the organization's mission, goals, and HRSA standards. Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.
  • Patient Care and Assessment: Provide comprehensive patient care, including history taking, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic treatment planning. This includes urgent and chronic care, reviewing patient medical history, and promoting healthy lifestyles and risk reduction during patient encounters.
  • Prescribing and Treatment: Prescribe medications, administer treatments (including injections), and respond to medication refill requests in a timely manner. Make referrals to specialists and community resources, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health Leadership: This collaboration is to ensure integrated and coordinated delivery of medical services within behavioral health settings. This includes working closely with behavioral health teams to align medical services with overall care strategies and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure Compliance with Regulatory Standards: Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with HRSA guidelines, federal and state regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Drive Quality Improvement Initiatives: Lead the organization's Quality Improvement (QI) efforts, utilizing data-driven strategies to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and service delivery across all departments.
  • Emergency and Safety Protocols: Apply sound clinical judgment in emergency situations, and ensure adherence to bloodborne pathogen exposure guidelines, bodily fluid precautions, and other regulatory safety protocols.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Patient Interaction: Demonstrate respect and sensitivity to cultural and social differences in interactions with patients and staff. Ensure patient-centered care that considers physical, emotional, and financial resources.
  • Supervise and Develop Clinical Staff: Recruit, mentor, and supervise medical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Ensure ongoing professional development and adherence to clinical guidelines and organizational standards.
  • Enhance Patient Care and Safety: Oversee the implementation of patient-centered care strategies, safety protocols, and infection control practices to maintain a high standard of care and a safe environment for all patients.
  • Patient Follow-Up: Ensure appropriate follow-up care for patients, including coordination of care with specialists and community resources.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that improve service delivery, expand access to care, and promote organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Manage Clinical Operations and Resources: Oversee clinical operations to ensure efficient use of resources, including managing medical equipment, supplies, and staffing to support effective patient care.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Foster collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the medical community.
  • Represent the Health Center in External Engagements: Function as a liaison with external organizations, community partners, and public health entities to advocate for patient needs, promote public health initiatives, and enhance the health center's visibility and impact in the community.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree: Must possess an MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification: Board Certified in a primary care specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics).
  • Oregon Medical License: Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Oregon.
  • DEA Certificate: Valid and active DEA certificate.
  • Clinical Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a clinical leadership role, with a history of overseeing primary care, behavioral health, and/or substance abuse programs.
  • Strategic Planning and Development: Experience in strategic planning and development within a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an FQHC or Similar Environment: Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or a similar healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Care Models: Understanding of integrated care models that combine primary care, behavioral health, and substance use treatment.
  • Advanced Training in Healthcare Management: Additional training or certification in healthcare administration or management (e.g., MPH, MHA).
  • Knowledge of HRSA Guidelines: Demonstrated understanding of HRSA Health Center Program requirements and standards for clinical care delivery.
  • Quality Improvement: Experience in leading quality improvement initiatives and managing clinical accreditation processes (e.g., HRSA, Joint Commission).
