Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer I to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This person will design and develop component parts for outboard marine systems. This person will work closely with mechanical, electrical, procurement, and project management groups to provide mechanical engineering support for large projects under the supervision of senior engineers.
What you'll be doing:
- Development of mechanical components for use in marine system.
- Learn the YMUS processes and procedures associated with design and documentation
- Develop test plans and test methods for component evaluation
- Provide testing support for projects under development.
- Sustaining engineering for existing product lines.
- Assist senior engineers with larger systems projects.
- Support YMSC group with FEA analysis.
- Support BPS group with development of Engineering Administration
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering or Navel Architecture.
- 0-3 yrs of design and analysis of mechanical components and structures.
- Coursework and/or project work related to FEA analysis.
- Familiarity with Ansys or Siemens Femap/NASTRAN software.
- Highly skilled with SolidWorks, NX, or another 3D CAD tool.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Boating experience
- Component level design experience for industrial, consumer or automotive applications.
- Project management including project scope/outline & estimation
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, casting, and sheet metal
- Experience with electronics packaging, and associated industry standards.
