POSITION/TITLE: Materials and Production Control Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage day to day fulfillment of purchased materials, production planning, scheduling, and material flow. Works to achieve material levels to support production, delivery dates, and plant optimization. Leads team with handling, controlling, and coordinating of raw and manufactured materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Collaborate with other managers and departments to determine supply needs.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to meet customer requirements and minimize costs.
- Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
- Work with the engineering department to make sure prints are latest revisions and driving correct materials.
- Establish and maintain proper information flow internally.
- Assist in identifying problems and helping to improve processes.
- Schedule and coordinate deliveries of supply material
- Function as the company purchasing agent for direct and indirect materials.
- Purchase raw materials and supplies through MRP to support production requirements.
- Ensure supplier detail in MRP is updated (contacts, lead time, pricing, minimum order quantities, etc.)
- Oversee evaluation of supplier performance
- Work with suppliers to address Quality, Cost, Delivery, or other specific issues.
- Resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
- Create and monitor production schedules based on customer, due date, size of orders and availability of components.
- Prepare and distribute schedules and press documents needed for production.
- Enter daily production information into MRP system.
- Adjust schedules as needed based on change in demand, efficiency issues, quality issues, etc.
- Provide quick responses to production issues.
- Interact daily with Production staff to improve scheduling issues.
- Utilize MRP to generate reports such as daily shortage report, Supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery Performances, and others as needed.
- Run MRP daily to review and maintain production work
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee Shipping, Receiving, Warehouse and Packaging Departments
- Develop and implement continuous improvement with employees through regular feedback, coaching and training.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by enforcing organizational policies and procedures.
- Organize workflow to ensure employees understand duties and delegated tasks.
- Contributes to team effort to help resolve issues and provide proper tools as needed.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain or related field
- Five years of experience in materials control field
QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excels at problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
