Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor Trainee performs work as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities. This position will engage in basic operations and management skills training as well as learn about key aspects of the business. The purpose of this position is to prepare the Trainee to perform at a higher-level supervisory role at the conclusion of the 12 to 24 months training period. This Manufacturing Operations Supervisor Trainee will directly interact with the Quality, Warehouse, Production, and/or Maintenance departments.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Lead employees and manufacturing activities in partnership with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams i.e., team meetings, shift exchanges, daily direction-setting, visual controls, status-at-a-glance boards, etc.
- Lead daily, weekly and/or monthly review processes to track and reinforce progress versus action plans with the team
- Learn how to use Lean tools to drive process improvement strategies in a manufacturing environment
- Assist with process improvements for Making, Packing, and Shipping. i.e., remove waste from the system and improve efficiencies
- Assist with building highly effective teams through team building, clear communication and ongoing coaching
- Partner with quality, manufacturing, warehouse, and maintenance management to deliver performance management, coaching, and discipline to team members
- Assist with management of safety culture, programs, and initiatives
- Partner with manufacturing team on daily walk-through of the manufacturing plant and warehouse
- Conduct GEMBA and manufacturing safety audits
- Prepare and distribute reports and records, i.e., end of shift report, employees’ monthly and daily efficiency, and observations
- Assist the team with their questions, opportunities and concerns
- Other projects or duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, 1 plus years’ experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment or related experience or HS Diploma/GED, 4 plus years’ experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment or related experience
- Strong organizational and analytical skills

- Ability to coach and lead others
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Excel, etc.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, i.e., early morning, overnight and weekend shifts
- This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
