JOB SUMMARY: 

This position will sit in Atlanta, Georgia or Naperville, Illinois

This position will be responsible for the execution of strategies surrounding Human Performance for Southern Company Gas Operations.  They will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities associated with the planning and implementation of Human Performance concepts throughout all aspects of SCG Operations. This will include facilitating major event, unexpected incident and repetitive recurring infraction exploration among cross functional stakeholders to identify risks/gaps/opportunities for the purposes of reaching an immediate solution for implementation.  This working leader is responsible for managing a team responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders and implementation partners such as Data/Process Analytics, Innovation, System Support, Technology, Training and Process integration.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   Specify major duties performed by the job and % of time spent on duties.

  • Coordinate activities with all levels of employees and multiple departments
  • Exercise Innovative mindset with ability to identify, recognize and implement improvements/course corrections
  • Manage project efforts effectively and confidentially with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Create strong win-win outcomes through effective negotiation and decision-making skills 
  • Resolve/negotiate conflicts between individuals or functional areas/cross Operations
  • Guide and supervise a team of internal/external professionals in execution of performance related tasks 
  • Exciting a culture of and initiating continuous improvement across the entire GAS organization
  • Develop team for effectiveness and demonstrated skill in continuous improvement and impact
  • Identify, define and implement changes while keeping all internal and external customers engaged/informed
  • Present progress reports and integrating feedback
  • Partner with change management and training to revise and update procedures and policies based on scope 
  • Partner to develop and leverage a business process documentation repository tool or service

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree in business management, project management, or in a related field
    • 2+ years Experience/knowledge in areas of safety or operational excellence
    • 3-5 years experience in business process analytics, data or management 
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience implementing process improvement projects 
    • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships 
    • Superb recordkeeping, time management, and organizational skills.
    • Highly motivated, with a positive attitude, ability to face the challenges in a fast-paced environment within a safety and customer focused organization 
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of Human Performance and/or change management concepts
    • Master's degree in business administration or similar will be advantageous
