Blue Sky Infrastructure is a Houston, Texas based company focused on providing infrastructure solutions to safely capture, transport, and permanently store CO2 from large point-source emitters. Blue Sky was founded in 2020 by former Cheniere Energy executives with experience developing, financing, commercializing, constructing, and operating large-scale infrastructure projects. Blue Sky is a portfolio company of Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager with over $1 trillion of capital under management.
Blue Sky is currently pre-revenue and is developing two projects: the River Parish Sequestration project (“RPS Project”) in Louisiana and the Timberlands Sequestration project (“TS Project”) in Alabama. Blue Sky expects to commence construction on the RPS Project in late 2025 / early 2026 and begin operations in 2027. Blue Sky expects to commence construction on the TS Project in late 2026 / early 2027 and begin operations in 2030. Blue Sky has been awarded $62 million of DOE grant funding to accelerate development activities across both projects over the next several years.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an individual with a background in finance and accounting that can multi-task, collaborate, work well with others, and manage a broad portfolio of activities. The focus of the role is managing corporate and project budgeting, accounts payable, bookkeeping and accounting, financial controls and processes, and financial modeling in connection with budgeting/planning and commercial contracting. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience, a good understanding of finance and accounting, a strong analytical background, excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to proactively take ownership of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget Management: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting, including ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal grant reporting requirements.
Financial Controls and Policies: Adhere to existing financial controls and accounting policies while identifying opportunities for improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Accounts Payable Management: Assisting with invoice processing and payment and streamlining processes to enhance operational efficiency.
External Accounting Management: Coordinate with external accounting staff to prepare accurate financial statements and ensure timely reporting.
Cash Management: Manage and issue capital calls to equity partners, ensuring clear communication and adherence to contractual obligations.
Financial Modeling: Develop and run financial models to evaluate economic outcomes based on varying inputs and assumptions to aid commercial decision making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CPA) preferred.
- Financial controls and compliance experience and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proven experience in financial modeling and budget management.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus.
