The Opportunity:
We are seeking a seasoned professional who is passionate about building the energy infrastructure of the future. This person will be responsible for overseeing a team that manages the permitting of complex, capital projects in New England. In this role, the successful candidate will help foster best practices that ensure the timely and successful submission of petitions and applications for review before state agencies.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide coordination and oversight over the content of state siting and permitting applications
- Ensure the preparation of formal petitions before state public utility commissions and state permitting authorities primarily in Vermont, Massachusetts or New Hampshire
- Work closely with project management leadership and consultants to ensure that high-quality siting and permit applications are filed in a timely manner
- Help establish and maintain working relationships with regulatory staff and key internal/external stakeholders in the New England jurisdiction
- Explore opportunities to create permitting efficiencies
- Maintain an understanding of Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts siting procedures, regulations, and orders
- Develop a permitting strategy for the complex project portfolio
- Recruit and develop staff, as well as enhance their ability to become subject matter experts in their fields
- Experience with energy facility siting and permitting, preferably at the state level
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to energy facility siting
- Knowledge of energy regulatory agency processes (e.g. DPU, EFSB)
- Familiarity with project management practices and a history of delivering assigned tasks
- Experience working on complex gas and electric projects
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, including the ability to build consensus, and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills, and the ability to write reports and develop presentations for internal and external senior leaders
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving history required
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, business, management, finance, law, government, economics, engineering or another related field. Advance degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the energy industry preferably in environmental regulation, law, project management, siting, permitting, or related field

Salary - $149,000 - $175,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
