Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Manager for its Advocacy and Strategic Alliances (herein, Alliance) team to support state-based alliance relationship development, consultant management, events, programs and activities. The Manager will report to the Vice President for Advocacy and Strategic Alliances (State) and will work closely with ASA state team and colleagues across PhRMA.
The Manager will:
- Work with the ASA State regional team to support contracting and management of our 50-state field-based consultant network, including grant processing and tracking.
- Manage reporting of state-based partner education and engagement, which includes events, meetings, briefings, letters, calls, and other activities.
- Assist the ASA state team with in-state and national event coordination, issue and activity tracking, cross-PhRMA and member company communications, event planning and support, consultant management, logistics, budget management and reporting.
- Provide administrative support as needed for ASA State team leadership, including scheduling of meetings, and tracking expenses.
- Shadow state regional team members at in-state meetings and events as opportunities arise.
- Align closely with other departments, including attending inter-departmental meetings and reporting back to the team, understanding advocacy goals/objectives, and responding to requests promptly.
- Have opportunity to develop professionally, including hands-on experience in how to develop alliances and manage consultants and programs to have an impact on state public policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The preferred candidate will be organized and have experience in event planning and grassroots communications. Candidate should be adaptable, able to prioritize and shift gears quickly, comfortable in a high-pressure environment and be politically savvy, diplomatic, responsive, and mature.
Professional Experience / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Affairs or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grassroots mobilization, coalition development and/or public affairs.
- Strong organizational and event planning skills.
- Must be willing to travel and be responsive and available after hours and on weekends.
Potential Salary
$78,200 - $105,500 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
