Job Summary
This position is expected to manage the overall health of the assigned plant system(s) in the following ways: The identification & coordination of Maintenance in order to ensure generating availability, efficiency, and reliability in an economical manner. The development and installation of special plant improvement projects. Providing technical direction and maintenance expertise to Maintenance personnel, in both on-the-job and classroom environments. Develop and track budgets (current, & 5 year) for assigned process and equipment needs. Perform the roles and responsibilities of a System Owner.
Job Requirements:
- Must possess extensive experience in the Operations and/or Maintenance of Electric Generating Plants.
- Thorough understanding of plant equipment, systems and operation in order to provide solutions to equipment problems that is cost effective and adequate to meet the intended needs.
- Ability to analyze critical situations; determine competent solutions with implementation in a safe and effective manner. Ability to work with people to achieve organizational objectives.
- Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short/long-term strategic planning skills.
- Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.
- Must be proficient in use of computer-based applications including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Must be available for on-call & outage responsibilities at intervals throughout the year. This could include the need to work nightshifts and weekends as the project/situation would require.

Job Responsibilities:
- Required to monitor routine operation of assigned Plant Equipment, investigate improvements of Equipment on an ongoing basis, deriving work scopes and solutions, and implement action plans.
- Develop and track routine, outage and capital budgets for assigned equipment, systems, and/or processes.
- Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of assigned Maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel, monitoring quality, cost and adherence to contract specifications, including but not limited to OSHA and Environmental regulations.
- Provide technical direction and expertise to Maintenance personnel, both on-the-job and in classrooms. May administer training and testing programs for Maintenance personnel.
- Analyze critical situations with plant equipment; determine Root Cause Analysis, develop competent solutions with implementation in a safe and effective manner.
- Establish an ongoing relationship with key vendors; gather and analyze acceptance data on new/rebuilt equipment; and stay informed of current technology.
- Support Southern Company operating and maintenance standards.
- Utilize Enterprise Solutions tools such as Maximo, oracle, etc. for daily work management.
