The Cosumnes Community Services District is looking for a highly motivated, qualified individual to join our team as a full-time Logistics Coordinator in the Fire Department.
Position Description
Under general supervision, the Logistics Coordinator controls and participates in the procurement of supplies, materials, parts, and equipment. Incumbents are responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering materials, supplies, and equipment, and performing minor repairs on basic fire and emergency medical services (EMS) equipment.
Salary Information
The salary range for the Logistics Coordinator classification is between $27.19 - $38.26 per hour. The District typically appoints new employees at step 1 of the salary range. Consideration for an appointment higher than step 1 will be based on experience, education, or the need for unique skills or knowledge and shall be no more than the mid-point of the salary range.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Receives, identifies, stores, issues, retrieves, and delivers by vehicle: office, janitorial, EMS, and firefighting supplies, materials, parts, and equipment.
- Determines immediate needs and provides amount and cost estimates of future supply and material needs as required; purchases supplies in accordance with District purchasing policies.
- Ensures optimum levels of equipment and supplies and timely services by establishing area standards and performance goals.
- Provides courteous and professional service to all facility users, District personnel, and the public.
- Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with Department safety standards and the District Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
- Inspects department equipment, ensuring appropriate function and adequate performance.
- Drives vehicles to make pickups and deliveries; may operate forklifts or other equipment to move heavy items; provides training and instruction to division personnel in the safe operation of forklifts.
- Generates updates and corrections to computerized inventory records showing items received, issued, and standard stock levels; may keep records on the location and status of fixed assets, posting stock transfers or the removal of equipment for repair or to surplus; takes or participates in the annual physical inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Utilizes inventory software to generate reports, research discrepancies to resolve errors, or determine inventory needs; administers user access and profiles.
- Maintains, processes, and distributes inventory of protective clothing and uniform apparel such as, but not limited to, t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, exercise apparel, and ball caps.
- Performs daily mail and/or supply distribution rounds between all Fire Department and other District approved locations as directed.
- Participates in department budget review, coordinating inventory needs are met.
- Performs periodic routine trips to area hospitals to retrieve District-owned medical equipment.
- Required to work a variety of shifts including, but not limited to early mornings, weekends, holidays, after-hours calls, or other needs of the department.
- Performs Related Duties as Required.
Qualifications
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered qualifying at the sole discretion of the District. The education or experience requirement may be modified or waived at the sole discretion of the General Manager. At least one of the education or experience requirements must be met; however, both requirements cannot be modified or waived. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education and Training:
- Possession of High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in a warehouse, shipping and receiving unit, or other related field that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities prescribed for the class of Logistics Coordinator.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid California class "C" driver's license, with a satisfactory driving record as determined by the District and maintain it throughout employment;
- Must obtain a valid forklift operator certification within sixty (60) days of employment and maintain it throughout employment.
Knowledge of:
- Principles, methods, practices, and procedures of material and supplies storage, maintenance, processing, inventory, and distribution.
- Safe work practices include but are not limited to, safe and effective use of hand and power tools and light and heavy equipment.
- Computer database programs, desktop publishing, and word processing currently used in programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Basic operation of automated office machines including calculator, computer, keyboard, printers and other peripherals, copier, and fax machine.
- Basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculation of decimals, ratios, percentages, and fractions.
Ability to:
- Manage tasks, prioritize, and utilize time effectively without direct supervision.
- Develop and implement procedures for ensuring that adequate stocks are available when needed.
- Learn and apply HIPAA regulations as it relates to the transportation and handling of EMS records.
- Operate light machinery and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Effectively and tactfully communicate both orally and in writing with facility users, independent contractors, vendors, District personnel, and the public.
- Proficiently operate computer programs such as those in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comprehend and prepare reports and forms such as accident reports, incident reports, inventory lists, e-mails, and calendars using a prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
- Comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents such as, but not limited to, time sheets, safety manuals, instruction manuals, personnel handbooks, policies, and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: occasional sitting and use of keyboard; frequent standing for long periods of time; frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing up and down stairs and ladders, crawling and twisting while performing field work; frequent pushing, pulling or lifting objects up to one hundred (100) pounds while performing inventory, stocking, and repairs, loading trucks with materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Vision: constant use of overall vision; occasional computer use; occasional color and depth vision.
- Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing and occasional typing; frequent grasping, holding, and reaching; frequent operation of equipment such as, but not limited to, hand trucks, pallet lifts, hand and power tools.
- Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person and on the phone.
- Emotional/Psychological: frequent decision-making and concentration, frequent public and/or coworker contact; occasionally works alone.
- Driving: ability to use fine and gross motor coordination for driving a variety of vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to, cars, pick-ups, equipment trailers, pallet lifts, and forklifts.
- Exposures: frequent exposure to loud noise, vibration, dust, dirt, chemicals, fumes, and other environmental substances; transportation and handling of EMS equipment include potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Typical Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a warehouse environment on a year-round basis in various types of weather and temperature including seasonal conditions such as extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and moisture. This position requires significant travel each day to multiple sites in a CSD vehicle. Some work is accomplished in an indoor office setting.

THE PROCESS:
Application Review (Pass/Fail): All applicants must complete and submit an application by the final filing deadline. Applications will be reviewed for possession of minimum qualifications and evaluated according to the essential functions of the job and other needs of the position.
- Supplemental Questions: The supplemental questions are considered a part of the application process. All required questions must be completed before the application can be submitted. The supplemental questions will be used to evaluate the relevance, level, and progression of the applicant's education, training, and experience. Depending on the size of the applicant pool, the supplemental questions may be used as a part of the supplemental screening.
- Supplemental Screening: The district will review the responses to the supplemental questions of all candidates meeting the minimum qualifications. The most competitive candidates in the applicant pool will be selected to continue in the selection process.
- First Interview: The most qualified candidates from the minimum qualification review will be invited to participate in a virtual Oral Panel Interview scheduled for January 28, 2025.
- Second Interview: The most qualified candidates from the first interview will be invited to participate in the second Oral Panel interview (In Person), which is scheduled for February 5, 2025.
Conditional Offer: Candidates selected from the process receive a conditional offer of employment contingent upon the successful completion of the following:
Reference Check: verification of work performance and employment history
Background Check: A State of California, Department of Justice criminal background check;
- Driving Record: A State of California DMV driving record printout will be required.
Upon successful completion of the background check, candidates must complete the following before final appointment:
- Medical: A clear physical screening will be required.
- Work Eligibility: The District participates in E-Verify to confirm authorization to work in the US.
Failure to meet these pre-employment requirements will be grounds for withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment.
Probationary Period: A probationary period of one (1) year is the final phase of the selection process.
